Dental implants don't just restore your smile, did you know they also prevent bone loss?

When you lose teeth, you also tend to lose bone mass in your jaw. Your jawbone needs the stimulation it gets when your teeth connect to maintain its mass. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that also replaces that jaw bone stimulation, helping to prevent bone loss.

More people are getting dental implants to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are a long-term solution to missing teeth that are embedded in your jawbone, similar to your natural teeth. Plus, unlike fixed bridges or removable dentures, dental implants will not affect neighboring healthy teeth or lead to bone loss in the jaw. If properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime.

A dental implant procedure is surgery to insert artificial tooth roots. Learn about dental implant procedures, including what to expect. Medically reviewed by our board-certified surgeons.

When wisdom teeth are removed, special dissolvable stitches are used to close the surgery area. These typically dissolve after a week. Brushing or eating may cause them to come out early, but after the first 2 days post-op, this should be perfectly fine.

Did you know that there are two types of sleep apnea?

Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common. It occurs when your muscles relax during sleep, causing soft tissue to collapse and block the airway. You try to breathe but can’t. Central sleep apnea occurs due to instability in your body’s breathing control system. Your body stops trying to breathe during sleep. If someone close to you has spoken of your loud snoring and has noticed that you often wake up abruptly gasping for air, you should consult us.

When you need to have a complex procedure done on your teeth or in your mouth, such as wisdom teeth removal, your dentist may recommend you visit an oral surgeon. While an oral surgeon may initially sound interchangeable with a dentist, they fulfill different roles and have different educational and training experience when it comes to dental health.
