Today I had the honor of being invited to spend the morning with a very special group of women to facilitate a healing yoga session, Flowing through Grief.
On this rainy Sunday in May, heading towards Mother’s Day, women gathered connected by a common thread of the loss of a baby during pregnancy or an infant after birth.
Through a very special organization called Empty Arms, these women gathered to support one another and develop skills, resources, comfort and space to grieve, and laugh and heal and grow together.
While I can not say that I share their special grief, I am all too familiar with the universal path of grief, loss and trauma.
The path toward healing isn’t a straight line and is often one walked with an extreme feeling of isolation. Today we settled on yoga mats, breathed together, grounding into the presence of that relationship with breath and life, self, emotion and energy. Breath is our absolute companion for every moment of our journey in this life, in this form. It is the source of energy, of calm, the pulse of excitement and pleasure and the weight of pain and sadness.
Our breath is our connection to ourselves and our inner essence and strength. Breath is presence, presence is healing.
Movement is the gift of the energy of our breath, while stillness is the blanket of comfort our breath can create.
These women are warriors.
If you or anyone you know has dealt with the loss of a baby during pregnancy or during infancy and needs support, please reach out to Empty Arms or connect with me and I’ll help you connect to their community and support.
Intention, presence, breath, balance and movement have all been part of my healing journey. I’d be honored to share some time on your path helping you discover the benefits of these via the work I do with my clientele through movement, yoga, exercise, somatic exercise and general wellness.
Please reach out! This life is so short, filled with so much difficulty and joy, to be walked alone. Find your community. Thank you Empty Arms for opening yours to these women💕🧘🏻♀️
