🍗🍤🍜 For our most recent Trip Around the World culinary series, we went back to a favorite - the Philippines! We enjoyed a delicious spread of traditional favorites including chicken & pork adobo, pancit (rice noodles), chicken afritada, fried chicken, and shrimp fried rice. For desert we had a mango float. 🥭

The residents had fun enjoying this food together. What destination do you think we should add to our culinary itinerary?

🍀 We’re proud to celebrate National Social Work Month and World Social Work Day on March 17 by recognizing the incredible social workers who support our residents, families, and care teams.

Our social workers play a vital role in advocating for Veterans, supporting families through important transitions, and helping ensure each resident’s voice, dignity, and personal story remain at the center of their care.

Pictured here are Tonia Dana (left), Licensed Social Worker and Social Work Supervisor, and Kim Hopkins (right), Licensed Social Worker.

Tonia and Kim shared what they love most about their work:
💬 “We love that our job isn’t just us. Recently we had a resident who wanted to give up. We did a ton of work with her to help her transition to assisted living. It was the best thing possible for her, and we were able to uplift her as a team. We are proud to be here and work with everyone. This is the best place to work because of our collaborative team.”

This year’s theme for Social Work Month is “Uplift. Defend. Transform.” — three powerful words that reflect the compassion, advocacy, and teamwork our social workers bring to their work every single day.

And since World Social Work Day falls on St. Patrick’s Day this year, we’re so excited to celebrate them we might just have to break out an Irish jig! ☘️💃

Thank you to our social workers for the difference you make in the lives of the Veterans we serve.

🌟 We're celebrating Healthcare HR Week (March 16–20)! It's a time to recognize the human resources professionals who support the people behind the care. From recruiting and onboarding to supporting employees and strengthening our teams, HR plays a vital role in helping our Homes provide the best possible care for our residents.

Here are a few words from our HR team:

💬 Justin Benway, HR Manager:
"What I enjoy most about working at Maine Veterans’ Homes is being part of an organization that truly honors and cares for our Veterans. In my role in Human Resources, it’s incredibly rewarding to support the employees who make that mission possible every day. Our staff bring a tremendous amount of dedication, compassion, and professionalism to the work they do, and it’s inspiring to see that commitment firsthand. Being able to help support and grow such a dedicated team makes me proud to be part of this organization and the important work we do for those who have served our country."

💬 Jessica Rogers, HR Assistant (not pictured):
"I enjoy meeting new people and being part of people’s new beginnings and career successes."

Thank you, Justin and Jessica, for the work you do to support our teams and strengthen our mission of Caring for Those Who Served. 💜💙

🎉 Happy Long Term Care Administrator's Week!

Today we’re proud to recognize our Administrator, Traci Kennedy.

Traci’s journey with MVH began in 2013 as a per diem Physical Therapist. She was later promoted to Senior Physical Therapist, then Rehab Manager, and in 2025 successfully completed the Administrator in Training (AIT) program, earned her license, and stepped into the Administrator role in September.

Her path reflects a deep commitment to our residents, our staff, and our mission of Caring for Those Who Served. Traci’s leadership, dedication, and passion for long-term care are evident in the work she does every day.

Long term care administrators carry a wide range of responsibilities, often working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly for residents, families, and staff. From navigating regulations and operational challenges to supporting employees and shaping culture, their leadership plays a critical role in enabling the best possible care outcomes.

The outdoor photo was taken at a recent celebration, and the others are a few throwbacks from over the years!

Traci, we appreciate you and all you do. 💜💙

We were so grateful to welcome Jeeping For Vets, along with local youth, to our Home for a very special Valentine’s visit. Together, they delivered handmade Valentine’s cards, stuffed animals, and military-themed rubber ducks—and they made sure every single resident received a card.

This awesome gesture reminded us how much our Veterans are loved by their community.

Thank you to Jeeping for Vets and our amazing young visitors for your continued partnership, kindness, and for bringing joy to our residents. 💕

🌏🍽️ By popular demand, our Trip Around the World is BACK!

This time, our residents took a delicious journey to Vietnam! Everyone enjoyed an incredible spread featuring grilled pork and chicken marinated for 24 hours with Vietnamese spices and fresh herbs, fragrant coconut rice, and comforting pho soup. 🍜

We topped it all off with the refreshing Vietnamese dessert Chè Thái. Lots of smiles and full bellies! 😋
