The 6th Annual Chili, Chowder & Soups Cook-Off is coming to Bangor — and it’s all for a great cause!

💵 $5 Admission

Hosted by the 6th District Masonic Association, this fun (and delicious!) community event invites you to sample a variety of homemade chili, chowder, and soups — and vote for your favorites!

🌟 Celebrating 30 Years! 🌟

We would be remiss to close out the year without highlighting a super special milestone… our 30th Anniversary Celebration!

On October 4, we gathered with residents, families, staff, and our amazing community partners for a day filled with music, recognition, food, fun, and friendship. We were lucky to have a few talented team members volunteer their time to capture the event — so please enjoy this photo tour from the celebration! 📸💙

🧦🎄 Thanks to the generous support of our community partners — The Marine Corps League, The River Church, Corinth Baptist Church, and The Salvation Army — every one of our residents received a beautifully stuffed Christmas stocking this year.

These stockings were lovingly hung on each resident’s door at midnight on December 24, for them to enjoy on Christmas morning. 💝

Our resident Christmas party was delightful and complete with a wonderful cast of Christmas characters! Thank you to our sponsors: American Legion Orono, American Legion Old Town, and the VFWs of Old Town and Ellsworth, St. John's Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marine Corps League, and the Elks Lodge in Bangor.

We were honored to host a wreath presentation ceremony with the Maine Department of Corrections Honor Guard. They even had representation from their Therapy Dog team! It was an appreciated moment of reflection for our Veterans. We thank the officers and leadership who participated and helped make this ceremony special for our Residents. 👮🏻‍♀️👮🏻‍♂️🐾

One especially touching moment from the day:
The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 75 surprised resident William with a Zippo lighter engraved with the USS Seattle. William had served aboard the ship and once owned a similar lighter as a memento of his service—one he later lost. Seeing his reaction to this thoughtful gift was unforgettable. ❤️
