We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jason Lang, M.D. has joined Down East Orthopedics! Dr. Lang is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Lang is an experienced surgeon, with 9 years at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Wake Forest University and 9 years at EmergeOrtho, Blue Ridge Division. Bringing the latest in knee replacement surgery to Bangor, ME!

Here at Downeast Surgery Center we are excited to announce that we have begun to use the ROSA Robotic Knee Replacement System. The ROSA provides soft tissue feedback, accurate bone resections, and collects intra-operative metrics for the best outcome for each patient. This system was designed by surgeons for surgeons, delivering the most accurate measurements using 2D to 3D Technology.

Unfortunately, our office has been without phones and internet all day as part of an outage being experienced by FirstLight. While they will not commit to when they will have the issue resolved, they are indicating that we should be back online for tomorrow. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

In an effort to make our screening process more efficient, we are going to be utilizing the online screening tool developed by Northern Light Health. This is a public domain and can be accessed by anyone. If you are a patient and you have a smart phone, we ask that you go to https://covid.northernlighthealth.org/covidcheck , click on Patient/Visitor and answer the questions. If you receive a green checkmark after answering the questions simply show this to our screener at the front door. The screener will then perform a temperature check. If your temperature is within the normal range you will be allowed to enter the building and check-in.
A Few Friendly Reminders:
1. Masks are required
2. You will be allowed in the building no earlier than 10 minutes prior to your appointment time.
3. Only patients will be allowed in the building UNLESS; patient is physically or mentally disabled; Patient is a minor. If you are a spouse, family member, etc. of the patient and you would like to take part in the visit, you can remain in your vehicle and participate via phone.
4. We will NOT tolerate aggressive or abusive behavior or language directed at, or in reference to, any of our staff or other patients. You will be asked to leave our property and may or may not be allowed back to our office.
We understand the level of anxiety, stress and uncertainty everyone is facing, because we are facing it too. We are simply following the guidelines and taking the proper precautions for the safety of you, our patients, and our staff. Thank you for your understanding.
