💙 April is Autism Acceptance Month and today is World Autism Awareness Day 💙

At UCP of Maine, we’re taking this opportunity to both raise awareness and celebrate acceptance.

All month long, we focus on acceptance:
✨ Embracing differences
✨ Listening to autistic voices
✨ Creating inclusive spaces in our communities
✨ Supporting individuals and families every step of the way

Autism is part of who someone is—not something to be changed. When we move beyond awareness to acceptance, we build a stronger, more compassionate Maine for everyone.

Join us this April in celebrating, learning, and supporting inclusion across our state. 💙

It’s National Down Syndrome Day! 💙💛

March 21 is a day to celebrate, raise awareness, and show support. One of the most fun ways to do that is by wearing mismatched socks. So, grab those socks that lost their mate in the laundry and put them to good use!

At UCP of Maine, we’re proud of our commitment to inclusion, acceptance, and supporting every person in living a full and meaningful life. Today and every day, we celebrate the joy, individuality, and contributions of people with Down syndrome.

Rock your socks with us and help spread the message that differences are worth celebrating. 🧦

🍀 The kitchen is buzzing at UCP of Maine’s Elizabeth Levinson Center!

Our incredible team is hard at work preparing for a fun and festive St. Patrick’s Day. From decorations to treats, every detail is made with care to create joyful moments and a warm sense of celebration.

Plus, lots of fresh vegetables have already been peeled and cooked. The kitchen smells fantastic. 🥕🥔💚

We’re so grateful for the dedicated staff who put their hearts into making days like this extra special. 🌈✨

Since this resident was 8 years old, Dan Howard, Developmental Trainer/C.N.A., has been part of his journey. Today, that long-standing connection continues in moments like this one in the pool at UCP of Maine’s Elizabeth Levinson Center.

Our pool is not just a place for exercise. Aquatic therapy and recreation support mobility, reduce pain, and create opportunities for connection that cannot always happen on land.

Dan has a gift for making both residents and staff laugh, and you can see that spirit in this moment. It is a reminder that meaningful care is built on trust, consistency, and shared experiences over time.

While photos were being taken, one very thoughtful young negotiator decided to make a trade. She proudly held up her toy and offered it in exchange for the camera.

It was a generous offer, confidently presented and honestly pretty tempting. Unfortunately, the photographer had to decline the deal, though it may have been the hardest decision of the work week.

Safe to say the negotiation skills around here are already impressive.

March is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month 💚

Cerebral Palsy is the most common motor disability in children, but awareness goes far beyond a diagnosis. It’s about recognizing strengths, celebrating abilities, and building communities where everyone has access, opportunity, and support.

At UCP of Maine, we are proud to stand alongside individuals and families impacted by Cerebral Palsy.

This month, we encourage you to learn, listen, and help create a more inclusive world for people of all abilities. 💚
