In the midst of all the fear mongering and vitriol that swirls around us, we need to take a deep breath and change our perspective.

I often say to myself, “in the light of eternity, does this REALLY make any difference?”

Then I smile. (Finding something funny to laugh about is a great way to transition from a gloom and doom mindset to a more productive and hopeful one.)

Anyway, I hope this will give you a grin and a chuckle as it did me...

"As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's cemetery in the Nova Scotia back country.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn't stop for directions.

I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late.

I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I've never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played "Amazing Grace", the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together.

When I finished, I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head was hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "I never seen anything like that before, and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years."

Looking for a book that will convict your complacency, challenge your lack of passion for Christ and equip you for the battle we are facing in these last days?
I cannot recommend Jamie Walden’s “Omega Dynamics” highly enough. Written from the perspective of of a battle seasoned United States Marine and heavily peppered with Scripture, this book is not for those content with “evanjellyfish churchianity.”

We are at war! It is a savage campaign being waged against the hearts, minds, and souls of mankind, as laid out from Genesis to Revelation, and it is rapidly approaching its prophesied convergent zenith. Standing on the front lines amid the fray of battle are the Redeemed sons and daughters in Je...

My prayer today, and every day.

“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay.
If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.”
~Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Two weeks ago
Helene was spinning this plant like a top, slamming it into my kitchen window. She weathered the storm and continues to bloom despite the adversity. She is Appalachian strong —like the brave men and women who are giving their time, talents and treasure to help those in need.

Fast and pray for Florida!

The One who spoke “peace be still!” and stopped the tempest for His disciples on the sea of Galilee is alive today and answers the prayers of His people. James 5:16!

Mom always said, “ something good comes from every bad thing.”

Thanks to the grace of God and the prayers y’all have lifted for me, I am weathering the aftermath of the storm with my wonderful neighbors. We are making the best of a difficult situation, helping and encouraging each other as we can. We are so blessed and so much more fortunate than so many who live here in these beloved mountains. 😨

I’ve been thinking about all the wonderful things that have resulted in the midst of this “unpleasantness.”

Here are just a few…
1. My freezers are all defrosted and clean.(Do any of you hate defrosting freezers as much as I do?)
2. I finally discarded refrigerated items that expired in 2016. 😂
3. I have read several 600+page books and, without the internet
and limited cell service, I have not placed an Amazon order in more than 10 days!
4. I am currently well under my budgeted spending for September/October.🥳
5. My usual joint pain in my wrists has been much improved…perhaps no “dirty electricity” and lack of emf radiation may have helped?
6. Best of all, I have gotten to know my neighbors better. Before any of my frozen or perishable items were ruined, my wonderful neighbor, Rebecca Rachel Johnson (who has a generator), came over and moved them into her freezer for me.
7. My best friend and neighbor,Judy Muller, and I have shared hot meals daily thanks to her having a propane gas stove. (As widows, before we often forgot to eat regular meals. )
8. I have had more time to pray, think and meditate on God’s Word.
9. Once again, the Lord has demonstrated that His grace is sufficient especially in the worst of times.

I could go on but, you know, I think Mom was right. 😊
