Tangerine essential oil is extracted by cold pressing the peels of Citrus x tangerina, a variety of mandarin orange. It offers numerous health benefits:

- Mood Enhancement & Stress Relief
Tangerine is well known for its calming and uplifting properties.

- Antioxidant Properties
Rich in limonene, terpinene, myrcene, and other bioactive compounds, tangerine helps neutralize free radicals and support cellular health.

- Digestive Support
Traditionally used to promote healthy digestion, positively influence the gut microbiota, and reduce inflammation.
Helps calm involuntary muscle contractions, which can be useful for digestive cramps.

- Skin Health
Helps improve skin appearance by supporting cell regeneration.
May assist with acne.

- Support for Respiratory System
Tangerine oil can help calm respiratory discomfort and promote easier breathing.
Its bright citrusy aroma may help clear nasal passages and reduce congestion when inhaled or used in steam therapy.

- Immune System Support
Through its antioxidant and antimicrobial actions, tangerine helps strengthen the immune response.

- Anti-cancer Properties
Research suggests that tangerine may show promise as an anti-cancer agent by inhibiting cancer cell growth and enhancing chemotherapy effects.

In partnership with Nutraceuticals Research Institute (formerly Franklin Health): A double blinded, placebo-controlled, randomized (1:1) parallel clinical trial conducted among otherwise healthy male and female children who were experiencing respiratory symptoms. The study compared inhalation of an essential oil blend from an inhaler stick containing eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, and tangerine essential oils to an identical, inert placebo.

Note: Proper dilution guidelines should always be followed. See the NAHA safety pages for more information.

Chronic fatigue syndrome also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) is not “just in your head.” A landmark genetic study has uncovered compelling biological evidence that the illness has deep roots in our DNA. Researchers identified eight regions of the human genome that differ significantly between people with and without ME/CFS, with many of these areas tied to immune system function and nervous system signaling.

The DecodeME project, led by the University of Edinburgh alongside patient groups and charities, analyzed genetic data from more than 15,000 ME/CFS patients and over 250,000 healthy controls. The findings suggest certain genetic variants may increase susceptibility by weakening infection-fighting abilities or altering chronic pain pathways. For millions of people living with debilitating fatigue, brain fog, and post-exertional malaise, these results offer long-awaited validation and a new direction for scientific research.

While there’s still no cure or definitive diagnostic test, this is a turning point in how ME/CFS is understood and treated. The results could lay the groundwork for genetic screening, targeted therapies, and deeper studies into why the condition disproportionately affects women and how it differs from illnesses like long Covid. Above all, it’s a powerful step toward ending the stigma and ensuring ME/CFS is recognized as a serious, biologically driven disease. Source: DecodeME Consortium (2025). Beyond Aromatics 2025💚
"Flower Power to the Rescue(sm)…. Emergencies happen. Are you prepared?
Exploring the use of Botanicals During Stressful Times for You and Your Animal Friends." with Kelly Holland Azzaro

"Relief is on its way! When we heard these words, we breathed a bit softer, tight muscles started to soften, and feelings of panic turned to hopefulness…. We were alive, safe, and had each other and our animal family were thankfully unharmed. This is just a bit of what our family felt and is still experiencing in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. My hope in sharing my presentation is to empower those who may be going through the same and inspire others to consider the importance of botanicals as allies in times of stress and trauma.
In this presentation, we will explore the use of aromatics, botanicals, and flower essences for emotional and physical support during and after stressful times such as emergencies. The word emergency conjures up all kinds of thoughts, from daily mishaps to full-blown get-in-your-vehicle-and-evacuate! Questions and concerns that come to mind…. Are we prepared? Do we have a first aid kit on hand? Can botanicals help us during stressful times? You may wonder if botanicals have a place in traditional first aid kits- the answer is YES!
In my presentation, I will share which botanicals have been most beneficial for our animal friends and how emotions, more often than not, impact the healing process (both emotional and physical). How we ‘act and react’ during and after an emergency affects those around us, including our animals.
Keeping botanical tools within reach and feeling prepared helps one feel grounded and focused. During times of stress and emergencies, nature's allies are gentle guides to restore calm as we navigate anxiousness and uncertainty, often followed by frustration and sometimes even a sense of gloom. Wouldn’t feeling supported, safe, and cared for be a welcome relief versus a cycle of fearfulness, panic, and overwhelm? If you agree, I invite you to explore the information in my presentation to gather botanical supplies and other helpful items to make your own ‘Flower Power to the Rescue Kits’(sm) for yourself and your animal friends."
