What do you know about menopause? Do you think it's just something that you have no control over? Have you ever felt empowered regarding your health care at this stage of life? Do you know where to find the trusted resources that can support your journey?

I'm excited to share that I've been chosen as the host of a Peri-Party for an incredible new docuseries called Balance! This series is dedicated to exploring perimenopause and menopause, giving women the vital knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health. What makes this show even more special is that it's produced by two amazing women, both monks, who are currently navigating their own perimenopause journeys. They're sharing their personal experiences to help women feel empowered as they approach the second half of life. To kick things off, I'm inviting 10 to 15 women to join me in my home for an exclusive screening of the Balance Docu Series.

If you want to be part of this amazing Peri Party, please dm me, or email me at drkerrinevin@me.com. Looking forward to seeing you there! Registration deadline is 10/25.

Gratitude is like a genie in a bottle.

Starting your day with a gratitude practice can shift the entire attitude of your day. It doesn't have to be a long, drawn-out, in-depth sit-down and write 10-page process.

It can be as simple as a 5-minute practice of writing down 10 things you are grateful for in the moment. When you notice the small things that are going well, you see the rest of the world around you going well too.

What Are Phytoestrogens?

Aside from being a long and complicated-sounding word, these incredible plant-based compounds have a structure similar to the estrogen found in your body but with a milder effect. They occur naturally in certain foods and are available in concentrated form as supplements.

To manage the effects of menopause on the body, you can add a variety of foods to your diet, like berries, peanuts, chickpeas, and flaxseed, or drink a nice cup of green or black tea.

While their effects may not be as strong as traditional treatments, these natural compounds can be a gentle alternative for relief.

Estrogen is a potent anti-inflammatory and insulin-sensitizing hormone. When we lose it, independent of age, we experience increasing inflammation risk, and insulin resistance.

During the transition to menopause, women are at a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and certain cancers. You do have the power to take proactive steps to maintain a healthy lifestyle and prevent some of the menopause-related conditions.

Would it surprise you to know there isn't a test for determining when menopause begins?

There is no standard method for diagnosing perimenopause, leading to inconsistent care from doctors and confusion for millions of women. The average age for menopause is 51; perimenopause can begin as early as the 30s or 40s, with hormones dropping off and symptoms starting to make an impact on health.

Unfortunately, many physicians overlook perimenopause, blaming symptoms on other causes due to the huge gap in women's health. That's why knowing the signs to look for before they happen so you can feel in control of your health.

Menopause isn't just about physical changes; it also affects brain health. The drop in estrogen impacts key areas like the hypothalamus, prefrontal cortex, and amygdala, leading to symptoms like temperature changes, memory issues, and sleep disruptions. This also explains why mood swings, anxiety, and irritability are common.

The connection between decreased estrogen and brain function highlights the increased risk of Alzheimer's in women, with two-thirds of cases affecting women. Understanding these changes is crucial for advocating for brain health as we age. In the past, it felt like there was nothing we could do to change this for ourselves as women, but cutting-edge research has opened up a world of possibilities for us to navigate this next step in our lives with grace and strength.
