UHC is one of the most powerful insurers. They own several vertical industries in their supply chain (which was previously illegal but they somehow did it), they make it difficult for physicians to care for their patients in the form of endless claim denials, prior authorization requests and peer to peer requests.
They also own Change healthcare which experienced a cyber attack this year and practices could not get paid for months meaning couldn’t pay their employees.
If you don’t already belong to a DPC practice, consider reading and learning about them. They are affordable and completely cut out all middlemen in the cate between you and your physician. It’s so refreshing not to be dependent on others for payment and not to have to justify to a business model why I’m ordering something for my patient.
I remember when this Medicare advantage annual house calls were going on and patients would show up to my office with new crazy diagnoses that made no sense. Hopefully the DOJ investigates and shuts this down.
This is outside the WSJ paywall:

Information gathered from Medicare Advantage patients in their homes triggered extra payments. “It made me cringe,” said one nurse.
