Infusion Mindfulness offers Mindfulness, Stress Reduction, & Meditation groups, workshops, speaking engagements and individual sessions to the local community, businesses, & non-profits in Maine. Too often we feel like we are moving through our lives on autopilot, reacting to what gets thrown at us, trying to manage the sheer volume of things that need to get done while feeling like there must be a better way. I'd like to you to envision the possibility that there is a better way. A way that we can actively engage in our own lives, a way we can slow down, take time to discover what is most important to us & to incorporate meaning & purpose into our everyday life. A way we start to see the beauty in life's little moments & and a way we can respond to life's challenges with more clarity & ease. Infusion Mindfulness gives you the tools that can make this possibility a reality. Tools to help you relax & slow down, to identify what is important, & to take action in the direction you want to go. The latest research in wellness & brain science has found that well-being is a skill and it also shows us it is possible to create change in both our bodies & our brains through mind-body techniques including mindfulness & meditation practices. Infusion Mindfulness strives to empower people by helping them build the skills that promote well-being.

I have to admit that advertising & marketing are not my thing. A lot of the work I do is specifically with organizations who do the advertising for me and personal word of mouth from people who who have experienced big benefits & transformation in their lives from my mindfulness & nervous system regulation coaching. But I’m super passionate about how much of a difference learning these things can help so making a vow to be a little more active here. So something i can easily do is just show you some pictures of moments of peace I actively look for in my days, they soothe my nervous system & maybe yours as well, hope you enjoy & happy to answer any questions!

Music is so nourishing to our nervous systems. This is a screenshot of a peek at one of my playlists called Dance Like Crazy 2. I love making playlists to help shift my mood, calm me down when I’m activated & to motivate me when I’m feeling sluggish. I also have playlists called Lift Me Up & Remember These Things. They never fail to lift me up when I’m feeling down, help me get the chores around the house done and even help me fall asleep. And part of nervous system activation (fight or flight) is an excess of energy so if the music makes you move it helps get rid of that excess energy so you can feel more calm. Not to mention the research on the impact of music to improve immune system function, improve mood, & increase overall well-being, so crank up the tunes! How does music help you? Sending lots of love!

Sometimes nourishing my nervous system means NOT doing things. I didn’t post yesterday because I had a busy day & I like to bring thoughtful consideration to what I say & not pressure myself to just post something. Other ways not doing things to nourish your system could look like:
—not being self critical (practicing self-compassion instead)
—NOT saying yes when I want to say no (not overcommitting myself)
—NOT people pleasing
—NOT feeling guilty for resting when I need it
—NOT focusing on things that ramp up activation (the news, doom scrolling)
—NOT putting off doing things that make me happy
—NOT procrastinating & avoiding things that need to be dealt with
It often feels challenging to not do these things, but holding a big intention to nourish yourself & your nervous system & asking again & again—“What would be most nourishing to my nervous system in this moment??” really helps. And remembering it’s a practice. The more we practice the more we can rewire our our brain for these practices to become a new go to. What are you NOT doing right now to support yourself & reduce activation? Sending lots of love to you all!

Nourishing Your Nervous System: Today we had another snowstorm. We’ve got more snow this year than in the last 3 years put together. While I love the snow, I’m not getting out much & have been longing for connection (one of the biggest needs of our nervous systems!) so I connected on Zoom while cozy & mostly in pajamas. I checked out a new group I was interested in—which was lovely & inspiring & then with a dear friend who is facing some big challenges in her life & it felt good to connect with her and be a support. And finally another inspiring webinar this evening with the Land Peace Foundation. All these connections, even with some things that made my heart heavy (the ‘both and’ we have the ability to hold both joy & sorrow at the same time) uplifted me & were a balm to my nervous system. I didn’t get any picts of those but did get some of the snow for your viewing pleasure! What did you do to soothe your nervous system today? I’d love to hear & sending lots of love! With all that’s going on in the world today, one of the most important things we can do is nourish our nervous systems in any way we can. With rest, with connection to loved ones, with small moments of joy & beauty, offering kindness & care, eating nutritious food to fuel our body & comfort food when we need it, time off from doom scrolling (and preferably intentionally choosing trusted social media that inspires), mindfulness & meditation, quiet time, nature, walking, knitting—whatever things soothe your own unique nervous systems, that give your senses, your body & mind a break. It’s not irresponsible, it’s the most important thing we can do to ensure that we can show up in the world in the ways we want to, and continue to have compassion, kindness, empathy & care. So I’m committing to sharing how I’m caring for my own nervous system daily, with little things & sometimes bigger things. Today, I’m sharing pictures of some unusual & beautiful flowers I have in my home. I’m lucky enough to be friends with the grower & every time I look at them they bring me joy! I know I’m supporting a local small business, that they are grown with love, and I like to imagine all the other people who they are bringing so much joy to. They lift my heart, connect me to my community & remind me to see the beauty all around in troubling times. Hoping you all are finding ways to care for your nervous systems & sending you much love!
