Life Enrichment Assistants are our dedicated fun-makers! The role focuses on involving residents, clients, and consumers with memory loss in any of our program/service areas in daily programming that helps the resident feel valued and provides them with a sense of purpose. Simply put, your job is to help our most vulnerable seniors have fun and enjoy life!

As a Life Enrichment Assistant, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a variety of recreational and social activities for our residents with memory loss. You may also assist with transportation, outings, events, and special projects. You will work closely with the Programs & Engagement Coordinator and other staff members to ensure that our residents have a positive and purposeful experience every day.

At Birch Bay, growth and teamwork come first. 💙 Our first-ever Skills Day brought together Life Enrichment & Health Services staff for hands-on training, dementia education, fire safety refreshers, and collaboration with local hospice partners. These stations offered hands-on opportunities to review best practices and enhance day-to-day care techniques. To add an element of fun and engagement, participants had the chance to enter two raffle giveaways, which were well received and contributed to the positive atmosphere of the day.

In a partnership with Mary Parham, Community Health Educator for & Therapeutic Riding Center, we are pleased to enter our second week of the STEPS Program! STEPS is an opportunity for BBV residents & Don & Beth Straus Adult Day Program members to participate in guided walking sessions with horses supported by farm staff in a safe and structured environment. This program offers attendees that opportunity to build connection, get exercise, increase confidence and experience the therapeutic benefit of horses. Birch Bay’s very first Contra Dance was a fantastic success, thanks to our talented Contra Dance caller, Alice Slater, and the lively tunes of The Big Moose Band!
This event, dreamed up by our own Jackie Zeisloft Brehm, brought together residents from neighborhoods across Birch Bay, as well as members from the Adult Day Program!
