Happy Daylight Saving Time - Buddy is not impressed!

Losing that hour of sleep even affected Buddy 💤 So this feels like the perfect time to talk about another sleep rule that doesn't actually work...
'Go to bed at the same time every night.'

Most people's schedules don't look the same day to day. Work runs late. Kids have sports. Homework projects pop up out of nowhere. And then daylight savings swoops in and throws everyone off!

Real life isn't consistent, so expecting your sleep schedule to be consistent doesn't make any damn sense.

Your body doesn't need a rigid bedtime. It needs support so you can shift from 'Go mode' into rest, whenever you finally make it to bed.

One of the big sleep rules says you should avoid screens at night. And sure...in a perfect world, maybe.

But sometimes the only quiet moment you get all day is when you sit down before bed to scroll or watch a little TV.

Real life doesn't always match the rules, and that's ok.
Good sleep is about supporting your body, not chasing perfection.

Woke up this morning to tree branches snapping off from the heavy snow and smacking the house. NOT exactly the peaceful morning I try for.

But honestly....this is where good sleep makes a difference. If I hadn't had real rest last night, I would've been stressed out, overwhelmed and maybe even a little panicked at the sight (looks worse when you see the whole thing).

Instead, I took a deep breath, checked the house and went on with my morning calmly.

This is why I'm creating a course about getting good sleep that allows us to take on anything life throws at us 🫣 even if that's Mother Nature throwing a tree at the house 😅

We've all heard the rule that to sleep well, we shouldn't have caffeine after 2 p.m. And honestly...most of us have said "Yeah, right."

2 p.m. is when the midday slump hits. So we grab a coffee, a soda, or *gasp* an energy drink, and then feel doomed to another night of tossing and turning.

Most people aren't drinking caffeine late because they want to. They're drinking it because they're exhausted. Stuck in a cycle of poor sleep➡️exhaustion➡️caffeine➡️poor sleep.

And no one ever offers real guidance on how to break that cycle. Just more rigid rules that don't fit real life.

The truth is: caffeine isn't the enemy. Rules that don't work are.

What actually helps is supporting your body so it can rest- even if your routine isn't perfect.
