Tight Psoas?

Signs of tight psoas include lower back pain, hip pain, groin pain, difficulty standing up and pain that potentially radiates down the leg. This tight muscle may also lead to snapping hip syndrome, which occurs when tendons of tight muscles flup back and forth over bony prominences.

Other issues from a tight psoas may be constipation, digestive issues, pelvic pain, and may contribute to PMS symptoms.

What causes a tight psoas?

Prolonged sitting (office jobs, driving a ton)

Overuse (activities like running, cycling or anything that involves a lot of hip flexion)

Injuries or post-op pain (hip replacements)

Emotional trauma (the psoas is known as the "muscle of the soul" due to its location deep within the core of the body and it's connection to breathing. The psoas muscle is known to hold onto emotional stress which can manifest as physical tension)

Do you think your psoas needs some work?

Muscle Monday!

This week we're gonna spend some time talking about the Psoas, pronounced "So As".

I feel like every client has heard of it (a chiropractor, doctor or physical therapist have mentioned it), clients rarely know where it is or why it might in fact be the cause of their pain issue.

The psoas muscle originates on the front portion of the vertebral bodies of T12 to L4 and the front portion of the transverse processes of the vertebrae of L1 to L5. Basically the front portion of your lumbar spine.

It passes through the pelvic girdle to attach to the the lesser trochanter of the femur. We have 2 psoas...1 on each side of the body.

Why is this muscle so important? The psoas is a key hip flexor. Along with hip flexion it also does trunk flexion and lateral flexion, and rotation of the thigh. It aids in posture and stability, and it connects the upper and lower portions of the body.

Now that you've seen where it's located in the body, it might be easier to understand why this muscle could be contributing to low back, hip or thigh pain.

Tomorrow I'll talk more about what it looks like when it's too tight or too weak.

Hey everyone. I'm looking for someone that has frozen shoulder or an obvious decrease in range of motion of the shoulder. This person will receive a free Rapid session to treat the shoulder issue.

To be eligible for the free session ( and possibly a follow up session) this person must be ok with pictures being taken for marketing purposes.

This person must also be willing to follow my post treatment recommendations.

What are the perks of this: well a free session is always amazing. And you get to bypass the first time client cost for future sessions. To top it off, increased range of motion and decreased pain 🤞(results vary)

To be considered for this opportunity please message me and if possible include a photo or video of the problematic shoulder showing the current range of motion.

Sadly I can only pick one at this time.

If you aren't already, like my page because there will be other opportunities in the future.

❤️

You might be wondering what makes Rapid different from traditional massage, so I made a chart 🤗

I love a good massage, time on the table to relax and unwind. And sometimes I wish my soft tissue treatments could be more like chiropractic care...in and out with my pain being relieved. That's where Rapid comes in.

If you're wondering if it's for you, feel free to reach out to me.

A personal experience with RAPID:

A few months back, my Buddy decided to chase a rabbit. Well, he caught it and decided to throw it around a bit before my husband and I saved it. Once the bunny was rescued, Buddy came back to the house where I pointed my finger and reprimanded him. Don't worry, he didn't feel bad AT ALL. As I was reprimanding him, little bigs started crawling out of his fur. FLEAS! EEK!

If you know Buddy, you know a bath was outta the question unless he is medicated. So I went to Walmart to get a leave on flea spray. BUT if you know Buddy, he is afraid of EVERYTHING. So as I held his collar and pressed the button on the spray, the little psssssss hissing noise caused him to bolt. And my thumb made a very loud snapping sound. I thought it was broken.

Weeks go by and my thumb was still hurting like crazy. It was hard to do regular massage and it was hard to practice RAPID. The thumb is a massage therapists best friend for specific work...and mine was injured. I couldn't put any pressure on it at all.

So I thought, the first thing I learned in RAPID is how to take care of my hands 🤦‍♀️ I should have thought of it sooner. So I went to work, working into the thumb and giving special attention to the joint capsule. It didn't feel awesome while it was happening. In fact, it was pretty uncomfortable. I would rate the intensity at a 7 or 8 out of 10 😬

The next day it felt mostly better. A few days later it was starting to be achy again so I went ahead and treated again. After the inflammation from treatment subsided, my thumb was 100%. The pain hasn't returned and I have full use of my thumb, and I'm ready to get everyone this same level of pain relief.

Picture of the criminal accused of injuring me in the first place 😅
