Recognizing these symbols? Do you any of them hold meaning for you? Do they have a significance when it comes to your practice or did they? Let’s hear your experiences!

Now not all of these are hyper accurate and some are very similar to one another but here’s some of my experiences. As a child I grew up wearing the cross, and that was up till I was maybe 12 years old. And then it stopped working with myself personally. After that I grew heavily drawn to the pentacle and ankh. Those I still wear regularly. As well as dream catcher and lotus that are tattooed together on my calf. To me the lotus is rising from the mud, ankh is in my practice as i respect the dead and work closely in my practice, the pentacle for protection, and energy, the dreamcatcher was something I was raised up on heavily used for protection at night🖤-Obscura

I’m a little bit behind but let’s get back to it! We just hit the Winter Solstice and Yule! That means we had the longest night of the year 😱 and the days are slowly getting longer (glacier slow)

But what does this all mean for us? Especially when it comes to a spiritual sense. Let’s start with the basics the the spiritual world. Many different roots of the holiday seasons come different backgrounds. A lot of them in this case is Europe (Saturnalia, Yule, Solstice and Mothers Night) make up some of our current traditions. Such as the current gift giving, feasting, tree decor, and the endless energy we feel this time of year.

Much like during Samhain the veil is incredibly thin too. As a kid I couldn’t understand why I felt the same way I did when it was Halloween but as an adult now, knowing what i do? It makes sense. A lot of traditions influence folklore this time of year too.

And not to forget the other traditions and cultures Happy Holidays in general! As well as a friendly reminder Moons and Runes understands that the holidays can be hard for a variety of reasons and you’re always welcome here with us 🖤-Obscura

What is up my ghouls, goblins and practicing pumpkins!? Today is a few things depending on what you celebrate. Whether it’s Halloween or Sahmain (Sah-win). Both of which share similar themes but are also different too.

Those in common include but not limited to: bonfires, costumes, sweets/feasts, carvings. Shared things of the otherworldly, memory and ancestry, and the seasonal shift.

What did you do today for yourself? What are you doing for your spiritual work? Anything fun or spooky? Let’s hear it! I’m personally on a vacation and got to see a long time bestie of mine and took them and my love to one of favorite horror authors house 🖤💀 - Obscura

Hello practicing peeps, those who are new here and those wanting to learn! It is the Autumn Equinox! To some it’s considered that, the first day of fall, Mabon, Ohigan (Japanese). Regardless it’s a time of letting go, a transition of darkness. A reminder of endings and beginnings. Planting “seeds” of the future.

A common story involving this is Persephone traveling back to the Underworld. She was here to bring spring and warmth as Kore and now she returns back to Hades for the cold months as the leaves wither and crops die and turn to Persephone.

What’s up my practitioner peeps?! I know it’s been a minute but let’s get back to it! For some reason my post from instagram didn’t transfer from there to here. So let’s do this thang from scratch!

You may have noticed that things are looking a little different and you know what? That’s okay! Fear not because it’s a good thing! Whereas Lia may not be active here, they have their own thing going on in real life and they are helping out some in discord. Come visit us there and it’s becoming lively again!

May Day, May Day it’s Beltane it’s Beltane! It falls between Ostara and Litha. It’s marked as the beginning of the summer in Gaelic culture.

Historically the sabbat has Celtic roots like Imbolic, Samhain, and Lughnasadh. Celebrations of bonfires, livestock blessings, fertility, and protection of land and worshiping to god/goddess. Translated often to “bright fire”.

How did May Day and Beltane become interconnected?! Began in medieval and early Europe especially Germany, England, and Scandinavia as a secular celebration of spring. Featuring the maypole, May Queens and flower garlands- all in natures blessings.

Spring Equinox is here or Ostara! A time for gathering, renew, the return of spring and warmth.

In many turns Persephone crosses ties with Ostara. She is a balancing act of that between the underworld and the surface with Demeter.

Renewal and rebirth is a key when it comes to this equinox. Persephone has that balance; being both a queen of the underworld and the goddess of spring. In honor of her seek new opportunities and beginnings but balance of transformation.

Much like Persephone who i ironically work with (she’s newer to me) you take a balance of things. Transformations. Change. I say this as someone who is very much a vibrant person but also has that darkness so to speak too. A lot of transformations have been made but we aren’t done yet. Obscura

Imbolc blessings everyone! Or to some it may be February first or Brigids day!

Today can be known as “beginnings of beginnings”. The second sabbath in the Wheel of the Year. Has roots in the Celtic world and heavily associated with the goddess Brigid as i suggested prior.

Cleansing during this day is important for releasing for stagnant energy. White for purification and blue for healing if you do color associated magic. Making a Brigid cross can be done as well! All of this and more can be performed and to prepare us the warmer months to come -Obscura

Well it’s after midnight here for Moons and Runes. Things are changing for us I guess you can say. Whereas it is not the Witches New Year yet, it is now 2025.

A small ritual is done, journaling is being performed. Before I head to bed. What are you doing tonight? Ritual? Parties? Be safe! Did you do anything with the full moon? I merely journaled and passed out myself!

Letting go of 2024 and stepping on to the new book of 2025 is going to be hard. No one said a word about easy. But there’s 365 pages for you to try. Obsura #2025
