SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Baraboo welcomes Kellie Jones-Monahan, MD, FACS, an SSM Health Dean Medical Group Specialty Services board-certified general surgeon. She is now accepting new patients.

She joins Mark Meier, MD, and Tenzin Atruksang, MD, both SSM Health Dean Medical Group Specialty Services board-certified general surgeons.

Dr. Jones-Monahan offers a full range of surgical services, including gall bladder disease, breast diseases including cancer care, upper and lower endoscopy, bowel disorders including colon cancer, hemorrhoidal and pilonidal disease, hernia repair, and skin and soft tissue benign and malignant lesions.

A graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Dr. Jones-Monahan completed her general surgery residency at the Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow with the American College of Surgeons.

As a general surgeon, Dr. Jones-Monahan takes the time to ensure patients understand procedures and are comfortable with collaborative decision making.

“I was not raised in a medical household,” says Dr. Jones-Monahan. “It’s particularly important to translate medical jargon into non-technical terminology, helping patients to feel safe and cared for by my words and peri-operative care. I also like taking a personal interest in my patients’ lives to personalize our experiences together.”

Her compassion for patients continues even beyond the hospital walls. “It’s so corny, but if I am out shopping in the community, and a patient or family member approaches me and tells me I cared for them, and they were so appreciative. It’s like running into an old friend. When I care for another family or friend of a previous patient. The original patient thought so much of me that they would send a loved one to me.”

Outside of patient care, Dr. Jones-Monahan enjoys cycling, live music, cooking, and traveling and sightseeing.

For more information or a referral to Dr. Jones-Monahan, interested individuals should contact their primary care provider.
