Heart health isn’t just cardio. From a functional medicine perspective, stress, breathing patterns, and nervous system regulation all influence cardiovascular health. Movement that supports—not overwhelms—the system matters.

❄️From years in outpatient practice, snow shoveling is one of the most common causes of winter back and shoulder injuries we see. Cold muscles + sudden load is a perfect storm. A little preparation goes a long way

❄️Not all fall-related injuries show up right away. We often see hip, low back, and pelvic symptoms days later. Early assessment matters—especially in winter.

Winter Advisory

During the Winter Months we wanted to share our policy. We will generally be open unless we are unable to get to the clinic due to road closure.
If we do close, we will call patients scheduled that day to notify and reschedule them. We will also be monitoring all email and voicemails closely.

Our policy is safety first, therefore if you are unable to make it to your appointment safely- we ask that you call as soon as possible so we can offer that spot to another patient as well as look to reschedule you for another day/time. Thankyou!

January injuries are rarely bad luck. Clinically, they’re usually the result of rapid increases in activity without adequate recovery. Progressing gradually and addressing old issues early makes a significant difference.

Recovery isn’t laziness—it’s physiology.

Pelvic floor symptoms are frequently normalized, but they’re not something people have to live with.

Clinically, leaking, pressure, or instability during activity often relate to how the body manages load, breathing, hormones, and stress. These systems are connected—and when one is off, symptoms appear.

January is an ideal time to address pelvic floor concerns early, before training volume increases. Early intervention supports better long-term outcomes and continued participation in the activities you enjoy.

Pelvic health care is preventative care.

In clinical practice, persistent pain or repeated flare-ups are often signs the body has exceeded its current capacity—not that someone isn’t doing enough.

When symptoms linger, physical therapy helps identify what’s limiting progress, restore control and coordination, and rebuild tolerance safely.

Physical therapy doesn’t mean avoiding movement—it means creating the foundation that allows movement to continue long-term.

If things feel stuck, asking why matters more than pushing harder.

After years of treating injuries, pain patterns, and hormone-related setbacks, I can tell you this:
Most “New Year” plans fail because they ask the body to perform before it’s prepared.

Pain, fatigue, and recurring injury aren’t motivation problems.
They’re signs the system is overloaded.
