Eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration do not show signs or symptoms until significant damage has already been done to your eyes. That’s why regular comprehensive eye exams are an essential part of keeping your vision clear and your eyes healthy as you age. The earlier these and similar diseases are detected and treated, the less damage they can ultimately do.

Want to know more about how our eye doctors can help keep your eyes healthy? Visit us at Cecil Family Eyecare.

Official photos from the KOA Spring Congress 2025 where Dr. Leslie Cecil recently passed her gavel to Dr. Hannah Huffman, the new President of the Kentucky Optometric Association. Our very own, Kevin Cecil, was also recognized and received the President's Award for his dedication and always going above and beyond. Anyone who knows Kevin, knows there is no one more deserving of this honor. Congratulations to all of the award winners and to the KOA Board on a job well done!

Three Ways to Love Your Eyes This Valentine’s Day!

Don’t forget to show your eyes some love in three key ways:
1. Maintain a healthy diet by eating foods rich in anti-oxidants, including spinach, kale, broccoli, carrots and red peppers.
2. Wear sunglasses that block 99 to 100 percent of both UV-A and UV-B radiation – even in the winter.
3. Everyone is spending more and more time in front of a screen these days. Make sure to follow the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break to look at something 20 feet away. If you’ve been looking at a screen more than two hours, give yourself a 15-minute break to rest your eyes.

Most importantly, don’t forget to schedule an appointment for an annual comprehensive eye exam with your local optometrist.
