Although summer seems very far away on these cold and rainy days, we're already planning for camp this summer and wanted to share our camp dates! We'll be having camp on July 15-19 and July 29-Aug 2, for kids aged 4-12. We look forward to warm days of playing in the creek, spending time with the animals, and having amazing outdoor adventures. We had such a great first day-- exploring nature, learning about animal powers, berry picking, playing games, catching crawdads, and bunny snuggles! We hope tomorrow is just as amazing...

Who’s in that hole? Who left this track? Where was it going and why? At our second week at Camp Wildberry we'll be getting down low and discovering the creature homes, tracks and traces they leave behind. Using our best detective skills, we'll piece together the information to see the greater story of the natural world, the forest and the animals that occupy it. There will be games, crafts and more to enhance this exploratory experience at Camp Wildberry.

There's still time to register for our first week Animal Powers, July 16 - 20th, and our second week, Creature Homes, Tracks and Traces July 30 - Aug 3.

Bats have echolocation, birds have incredible eye sight, and black bears can smell something miles away. What’s your super power? Week 1 at Camp Wildberry we'll be studying Animal Powers with specially crafted games, activities and crafts. We will learn what makes our local animals so special by discovering their unique gifts and maybe even discover our own uniqueness.

We're happy to share that Camp Wildberry is offering 2 weeks of camp this summer! Campers aged 4-12 are invited to join us July 16th-20th and July 30th-Aug. 3rd for nature hikes, crafts, songs and stories around the fire, games, and more! We so look forward to our time in the woods with the kids, engaging with nature in creative ways and creating opportunities for joy and wonder. Our first ever week of camp was a tremendous success! We are so thankful for all the fun we shared and all that we learned. We hiked, played in mud and creeks, swung wildly on rope swings, snuggled bunnies, built fires, painted horses, crafted dream catchers, had picnics with mountain views, played games, made clay creations, experimented with natural pigments, led a blindfolded rope walk, made raspberry ice cream in a bag, shared stories, and so much more. We are so grateful to have shared these joyful experiences with our local community and their amazing children. See ya in 2018, Barnardsville!

So much is happening at Wildberry Sanctuary as we gear up for camp this summer. Check out our newly completed fire pit! Also, we lowered our age group to 3 years old so now there are even more opportunities for children to join us!

Our fire circle is complete, ringed with many different colored sands found here at Wildberry. We look forward to sitting by the fire, as we humans have been doing for millenia, to share stories, food, and songs with our campers. Check out those baby chards! We are creating some new garden beds in the bunny area as part of a sensory garden / bunny feeding landscape.

There is something so healing and instinctually satisfying about picking and eating right from the source! We look forward to sharing this with our campers this year!

Our bunny area is coming to life! We are loving this gorgeous archway, soon to be covered with blooming Passion flowers, and its grapevine wreath windows and walls of bamboo. Inside there is a little bunny hutch that will soon house our Angora rabbits. They will need lots of grooming and love but I have a feeling the kids will be up for the challenge ;)

A bunny can play a unique and special therapeutic role for children and adults alike. It offers a chance to experience empathy for other living creatures, read body language, and can support the instinct of safe touch--not to mention the sheer joy of petting a bunny!
