Kelsay Garvin recently saw Ms. Virginia Waggle for a follow-up visit at Barnesville Family Medicine. When staff asked if there was anything else they could do for her that day, Ms. Waggle mentioned her frustration with not being able to w**d her flower beds, which had become overgrown.
Without hesitation, the team took action. After wrapping up a long work week, several staff members clocked out on the afternoon of Friday, July 18, and went to Ms. Waggle’s home to help tidy up her flower beds — a gesture that went far beyond traditional care.
Ms. Waggle later shared, “I can’t thank them enough. They were my angels of mercy. I never would have dreamed they would do this for me. They were wonderful, and I don’t have enough words to express how thankful I am. My flowers have always been my pride and joy, and what they did for me was truly appreciated.”
She had even grown suspicious earlier when Aarica from the office casually asked if her flower beds still needed attention.
On behalf of WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital, we extend our sincere gratitude to the Barnesville Family Medicine team. Their compassion and commitment exemplify what it means to care for the whole person — both in and beyond the exam room. This act of kindness is a powerful reminder of the difference empathy and community spirit can make!
