Keys to Life Wellness, LLC Group and Individual health coaching, classes, & workshops. Integrative coaching with biblical truth

If you feel like your personal health is leaving you with more questions than answers, or if you know something needs to change but you don't know where to begin, a health coach might be just what you are looking for! Health Coaching (also known as Wellness Coaching) is all about coming alongside individuals and helping them take them take the intentional steps needed so that they can find the results they are looking for. Another part of my job that I am very passionate about is doctor/patient advocacy, or helping you ask the right questions and advocate for yourself with your care provider when trying to determine a root cause or decide your care. When faced with troubling symptoms in my young son, I began a journey of research, seeking counsel, and trial and error that led us to a diagnosis (Celiac Disease) which was actually the key to improving the health of our whole family. I have actual first-hand experience in transitioning my family to a restrictive diet (though I prefer the term "healing protocol" to avoid confusion with weight-loss oriented diets), and in troubleshooting that diet to get the best results for our unique circumstances. I have learned valuable lessons about communicating with practitioners, and studied about different options available to those of us facing various crises of health. While I am pursuing my certification as a Health/Wellness Coach, I am putting that experience to work. If you need help navigating on your own personal wellness journey, I want to be there for you!

Something I learned: The Desert Fathers practiced yoga! I never knew that in the time I spent learning about spiritual formation and contemplative prayer.

Some other thoughts I have had, recently. Martial arts (with the focus on chi or qi), performative dance, even athletic performance...all of these have roots in ancient religion, some of them directly with pagan temple practices. But we have decided all of these are able to be redeemed. We see Christian martial arts studios/dojos, Christian dance studios, Christian school and church sports teams. We watch the Olympics, literally named after Olympus, where the Greeks believed their deities lived. How is Yoga done with a Christian focus different from any of those practices?

Ep 13: Is it OK for Christians to do yoga? Maybe as a teacher you have been asked this question, or maybe you're wondering this for yourself. We have a treat...

Gratitude is a powerful way to remind ourselves of the positive aspects of our lives, even on challenging days. Let's take a moment to reflect and share what we're grateful for today.

What are you grateful for in this moment? It could be something small, like a warm cup of coffee, or something more significant, like the support of a loved one. Tell us, below!

Hey, everyone! It's that time of the week again when we plan our meals for the upcoming days. Taking a few moments to map out your menu can save you time, stress, and money throughout the week. Plus, it's an excellent way to ensure you eat balanced and nutritious meals.

Remember to consider your schedule, your dietary preferences, and any seasonal produce that might be available when planning your menu. Remember to include some quick and easy recipes for those busy evenings and a few comforting favorites for relaxing nights in.

Today we’re talking about marvelous mushrooms. Mushrooms are loaded with B6, and also help us get our trace minerals, like selenium. If you’re a mushroom fan, where you can you fit them in to this week’s menu?

Share what you've planned for the week in the comments below, and let's get inspired together. Your meal plan might inspire someone else to try a new recipe or give them the motivation they need.

I can't wait to see what delicious dishes you've got lined up! 😋

Hey, everyone! Happy Monday! Mondays are a great day to plan our meals for the upcoming days. Taking a few moments to map out your menu can save you time, stress, and money throughout the week. Plus, it's an excellent way to ensure you eat balanced and nutritious meals.

Remember to consider your schedule, your dietary preferences, and any seasonal produce that might be available when planning your menu. I like to look for my busiest days, and designate those as crock pot, leftovers, or cold meals (think entree salads). I also like to try and make room to get creative in the kitchen at least once a week, it helps me keep the joy in my kitchen time!

Instead of a recipe, today I’m challenging you with a couple of my favorite herbs: Basil and Cilantro. Basil is prolific in the summertime, as it loves the sun! It is savory, but can be surprisingly flexible. It rounds out a pasta sauce beautifully, or can take center stage in a sauce of it own (Pesto), but it also makes astonishingly good scrambled eggs. Cilantro is one of those herbs that people either seem to love or hate, haha. Personally, I love it! We probably use it the most in our Latin-inspired cuisine, but it also makes quite an appearance in Thai food. Which of these herbs can you use this week, and how will you use them?

You can also share what you've planned for the week in the comments below, and let's get inspired together. Who knows?? Your meal plan might inspire someone else to try a new recipe, or give them the motivation they need.

I can't wait to see what delicious dishes you've got lined up! 😋

Cultivating meaningful connections is essential to self-care, which contributes to your happiness. By prioritizing quality time with people who uplift and support us, we nurture our emotional health and foster a strong sense of belonging.

Meaningful connections go beyond superficial interactions. They involve deep conversations exploring thoughts, feelings, and experiences, allowing you to share your authentic self. Engaging in shared experiences, such as hobbies or community events, further strengthens these connections and creates lasting memories.

Planning and prepping meals in advance ensures you have nutritious and well-balanced options available throughout the week. Focus on selecting a variety of whole, nutrient-dense foods to support yourself throughout the week.

Meal prepping saves time, and reduces stress during the week, as we won't need to worry about what to cook each day. This streamlined process can alleviate mental strain and free up time for other self-care activities, contributing to improved mental well-being. It also reduces decision-fatigue, where our brains get worn down by the countless tiny decisions we make each day, and our critical thinking suffers.

In addition, meal planning helps manage the grocery budget more effectively, as you'll only purchase the ingredients you need for your pre-planned meals. This minimizes food waste, and supports a more sustainable lifestyle.

By adopting the healthy habit of planning and prepping meals in advance, we can enjoy the benefits of balanced nutrition, reduced stress, and better time management.
