Being a sensitive woman in business *and* becoming a mom has deeply (and quickly!) evolved who I am as a human being✨
So, I think it’s about time I formally reintroduce myself here….

Hi, I’m Shayna! 👋🏻

> Personally, I am a dreamer, a creative, a boy mom, a firefighter wife, a singer, a nature-lover, a holistic health and herb lover

> Professionally, I am a serial entrepreneur and the owner of multiple businesses

> Passionately, I help fellow female entrepreneurs use their sensitivity as a superpower for success

I have learned and uncovered SO much about myself through motherhood but most importantly, it has massively shifted my perspective on what it means to truly lean into my own sensitivity and support my sensitive-soul inside of my life…and especially my businesses.

Before understanding that my sensitivity is a superpower, I often found myself feeling stuck, scattered and super overwhelmed.

Could I *really* have it all without spinning my wheels and burning out?

Could I *really* harmonize all-of-the-things and create happiness for all the parts of myself?

Gratefully…through some tried-and-true processes I have mastered, lots of isolation (thanks Covid 🙄), inner work and impeccable self-care, I am very happy to announce…that yes, yes you freaking can! (Believe me, I’m not perfect. But I understand my limits.)

And this epic shift hasn’t happened just for me…I have also been able to support clients and other sensitive women in their lives + businesses to create amazing results for themselves….without the high stress and suffering.

You can (and will!) absolutely live a grounded *and* groundbreaking life without feeling…

-Stuck
-Overwhelmed
-Burnt out
-Anxious
-Drained of energy

Being a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and learning to really utilize your sensitivity as a gift will abundantly change your health, your business and ultimately, your life.

As I continue to make my own passions a priority, I am excited to share that I will be launching some AMAZING new resources, offers and a brand spankin’ new website over the next few weeks to support even more sensitive souls!

Stay tuned 👀 and until then…drop me a message or a comment here so that we can reconnect!

xoxo,
Shayna

I got my first tattoo when I was 21.⠀

Can you guess what it says?⠀

𝓭𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓶 💫 ⠀

“Some may call me a dreamer,⠀
but I’m not the only one.” ~John Lennon⠀

But I’ve had to realize since becoming a mom AND dealing with this insane past year+, I just don’t have the energy to do everything I want to do.⠀

Honestly, it’s frustrating at times.⠀

I’ve totally had to shift my priorities and take a step back to reflect on where I want and need to use my energy.⠀

Thankfully, I have support surrounding me to do all the things I already do, but I can’t push myself like I used to. ⠀

I need to make time to unwind and rest. Or my body will start to create more symptoms.⠀

Burnout sucks. Ever experience it? I have in my early 20’s and last fall while my husband was in the fire academy😔⠀

So I try to make time to do things that FILL my cup and less things that suck my energy. ⠀

What fills your energy cup? ☕️ ⠀

(I focus on this a lot with my highly sensitive coaching clients. They cannot push themselves like other ambitious women they may see. Downtime also allows them a chance to be creative and gain clarity!)

Are you showing any of these signs more often than you’d like?⠀

I understand burnout more than I want to admit:⠀

1. Honor student/perfectionist/type A through my school years. ⠀
(Then almost died from appendicitis and mononucleosis)⠀

2. Worked full-time while attending college classes. (Gained 30 lbs and had chronic fatigue)⠀

3. Owning two growing businesses. ⠀
(While struggling to get pregnant)⠀

4. Pandemic work at home mom life. ⠀
(Survival-mode while my husband was in the fire academy)⠀

Let’s just say I’ve had some practice in understanding my signs and knowing my limits 🤷🏻‍♀️⠀

If you’re needing some support before you totally burn OUT, I hope you’ll join my 5-Day Reset. ⠀

Because I don’t want to keep seeing women/moms be exhausted and feel like they’re failing.⠀

It’s a sh*tty feeling. We need community more than ever. ⠀

And we need healthy, happy ladies raising our children and changing the world ✌️⠀

P.S.⠀
Burnout is NOT your fault. You have a lot to deal with. Support is 🔑

Read it again.⠀

What are you working on healing, if anything? ⠀

•gut⠀
•childhood trauma⠀
•addiction⠀
•wound⠀
•heartache⠀
•broken bone⠀
•adult trauma ⠀
•relationships⠀
•and so on⠀

Are you avoiding or actively trying? ⠀

Healing can take a long time. Maybe even a lifetime. ⠀

Believe me. I’ve been dealing with anxiety since childhood + gut and hormonal issues since a teenager. ⠀

🎢 My healing has been a rollercoaster ride for sure. ⠀

🙏🏻I’m not perfect, nor will I ever be. But I know I’ve made major shifts and I’m here to help other burnt-out women heal.⠀

🔑 I absolutely didn’t do it alone. The support I’ve had, as well as being an advocate for my mental and physical health, have been key. ⠀

We are all just doing the best we can, especially during these strange times. ⠀

Some days will be better than others.⠀

👉What is one thing you can do now to start or continue to heal?⠀

For me, it’s getting to bed earlier tonight. ⠀

REST and DIGEST. (Remember when we talked about the parasympathetic nervous system?)⠀

It will give me more energy and hope for tomorrow. ⠀

Last week I was invited to speak to an online wellness group about fear and anxiety.⠀

I talked a bit about the parasympathetic nervous system vs the sympathetic nervous system.⠀

(Rest & digest vs fight & flight response)⠀

I love geeking out on this stuff so I made a visual to give some ideas to focus on the parasympathetic nervous system more often.⠀

We spend way TOO much time in the sympathetic nervous system:⠀

anxiety/stress/burnout⠀

Here are some ideas that help me:⠀
•20 minutes of yoga⠀
•walk around the neighborhood⠀
•cook a grounding meal⠀
•listen to a guided meditation ⠀
•sing to stimulate the vagus nerve ⠀

Have you heard of the vagus nerve?!⠀

Should I share more about it? ⠀

Also-would you like to see more visuals like this for anxiety?⠀

P.S.⠀

PCOS is an invisible disease. You can look healthy + still be struggling. ⠀

Let’s chat about one of the most important aspects:⠀

Insulin resistance🍭 ⠀

There I was at 19 years old taking birth control for bad periods + acne. Gaining weight. Taking Prozac for anxiety. Eating Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. Sitting on my ass at work + school. ⠀

I was binge eating because my blood sugar was constantly dropping. I would get super shakey and weak until I had sugar.⠀

🍪I thought I was doing the right thing by eating something sweet to get my blood sugar back up.⠀

Boy was I wrong. I was on this crazy rollercoaster ride: going up and down with my blood sugar every day. ⠀

A few years later I became a holistic health coach and transformed my relationship to food. I lost weight and got off my antidepressant. ⠀

Although I had more energy and less sickness, I still had some blood sugar struggles and major digestive issues that I couldn’t figure out. ⠀

I saw doctor after doctor with NO answers.⠀

It wasn’t until I struggled to get pregnant for a few years that I was finally diagnosed with PCOS (and also SIBO).⠀

🍏It’s because for the most part I was managing it with healthy choices, but obviously something was still off.⠀

Let’s chat briefly about how insulin resistance affects ovulation:⠀

First of all, studies have shown that up to 70% of women with PCOS have insulin resistance. ⠀

Cells in your ovaries produce essential hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. They also secrete a small amount of testosterone. ⠀

🥚However, if you have high insulin levels all the time, it causes your ovaries to overproduce testosterone. This disrupts the signals from the brain that are meant to select an egg and develop it to maturity and instead develops several small follicular that won’t grow large enough to be ovulated (“cysts” on the ovaries). ⠀

I highly recommend finding a functional practitioner who understands PCOS and wants to get to the root cause rather than masking symptoms with birth control or other medications! ⠀

Also, this is all linked to inflammation. We are a very inflamed nation. 😳⠀

If you’re anything like me, you want to know the ingredients in your products...⠀

So what’s in my HOPE spray?⠀

💜Sage + lavender + water⠀

We actually have fresh sage and lavender in our backyard garden. It’s fun to see the herbs the oils are derived from to make my best-selling HOPE product. ⠀

Have you tried it yet? ⠀

I keep one on my desk, in my car and in my bedroom. ⠀

Perfect for the extra breaths we need to take lately while working, at home, on the go and before bed. 🛌 ⠀

I was a very anxious and sensitive child. I struggled with stomach aches and migraines. ⠀

At 9 years old I saw a psychiatrist at Boston Children’s Hospital.⠀

I remember her telling my mom not to have the news on around me. 📰 ⠀

(JonBenét Ramsey, OJ Simpson, and Bill Clinton were some of the media memories for me as a kid. Murder and lies aren’t the best background noise for a kid, so we need to be mindful for our children!)⠀

To this day the news stirs up a lot of anxiety for me and I KNOW I’m not alone in this. My highly sensitive clients and friends feel the same way.⠀

The sad thing is that I feel the media’s goal is to create fear and panic. Of course I’ve watched it a bit more over the past few months, but it doesn’t ever make me feel better. It focuses on the negative things and rarely the good. It’s repetitive and definitely leaves information out. ⠀

It has also created quite a bit of division.⠀

Someone sent this to me the other day and I couldn’t agree more. Our thoughts tend to be filled with worry and fear rather than the positives. And since the world has so much uncertainty at the moment, it exasperates our anxiety.⠀

Remember, you don’t need to watch the news or scroll through social media everyday. You may feel you’re missing something, but you’re allowed to take a break. Give yourself permission to have space and re-charge.⠀

Anxiety & Genes⠀
Do you ever blame your anxiety on your genes?⠀

I was prescribed Prozac when I was 12 and thought I would have to be on it forever. It seemed normal to me since many of my family members were taking antidepressants.⠀

It wasn’t until my early 20’s when I began making lifestyle changes and noticed the difference it made on my mood and energy.⠀

I didn’t realize by making those positive changes, I was manipulating my genetic inheritance by a process called methylation. When we methylate certain genes, we can actually turn off our genetic tendency to things such as anxiety, ADHD, cancer, heart disease and so on.⠀

Wait-what?!⠀

Yes, this is known as epigenetics and it’s super fascinating. ⠀

The H in my HOPE Journey stands for Heal. ⠀
When I work with clients, we typically discuss their foundational health, including nutrition and supplementation. ⠀

However, I’ve had trouble recommending products because of ingredients and quality.⠀

I have been diving more into epigenetics and gut-brain connection, especially around anxiety, sensitivity, SIBO, and fertility/PCOS.⠀

I was first told about this book, Dirty Genes, by a friend who was told she had MTHFR gene mutation. (I’ll get into this at a later time because it’s common.)⠀

“Biochemicals such as serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and melatonin are known as neurotransmitters...⠀

The right balance of neurotransmitters makes you feel sharp, clear-headed, focused, calm, optimistic, and enthusiastic. ⠀

The wrong balance can make you feel foggy, confused, distracted, anxious, pessimistic, or simply blah...⠀

And methylation is the key to great brain chemistry.”⠀

It has made me feel better knowing it’s not ME. ⠀
My anxiety and sensitivity can be contributed to genetic SNP’s (singlenucleotide polymorphism) but can be cleaned up based on diet, sleep, stress relief, supplements, and by reducing toxins. ⠀

I am proud to announce my affiliation with .health! Their supplements are supportive of the methylation process.⠀

For the rest of May, I am offering you 10% off the book and supplements, which I offer to my private clients. Use SHAYNA10 at the Seeking Health link in comments.
