It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Yvonne "Evie" Gibson. Mrs. Gibson is preceded in death by her husband, and CHHF founder, Dr. Henry Gibson.
Evie was a foundational member of the CHHF family, traveling side-by-side with her husband to provide medical relief on the island of Utilia, Honduras long before "Carolina Honduras Health Foundation" came to fruition. After the organization was founded, Evie ventured to the Distict of Colon, Limon and surrounding villages that we still serve today.
A mission team member who worked alongside Evie in the late 90s recalls a special moment where Mrs. Gibson was assisting an elderly man select reading glasses of the proper strength. With literature in one hand, juggling various readers with the other, she placed the final pair of glasses upon the bridge of the man's nose. The team member watched Evie light up as the man exclaimed "OHHH!!!" when he could finally read the words of the literature she held.
The Foundation will remember Mrs. Evie Gibson as a loving mother and wife; one who shared the time she was granted with her husband not only with her community, but those abroad as well.
