A recent U.S. case highlights how flavored e-cigarettes can pose risks far beyond their appeal.

According to a report in the journal *Pediatrics*, a teenager developed bronchiolitis obliterans after years of va**ng, a serious and irreversible lung disease marked by airway scarring and chronic breathing difficulty.

Researchers explain that some flavoring chemicals, including diacetyl, can become harmful when heated and inhaled, even though they are safe to consume unheated.

Studies in the journal *Environmental Health Perspectives* show that many e-liquid ingredients have never been tested for inhalation safety.

As va**ng rises among teens, experts warn that long-term lung damage is preventable only when the risks are clearly understood. Awareness is protection.
