Barnwell – Randy William Still, Jr. 38, passed away on July 26, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at Dyches Funeral Home Chapel, 11372 Ellenton Street, Barnwell, SC. officiated by Rev. Mark Epperson and Rev. Don McCormick. Burial will follow at Allen’s Chapel Baptist Church cemetery, Barnwell, SC.
Randy was born in Bamberg County on August 8, 1986. He was a member of Allen’s Chapel Baptist Church. He loved fishing, sports cars and racing. He was a loving father, son and uncle and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his parents, Randy and Wendy Still of Barnwell; his daughter, Jaslene Alyssa Still and her mother, Elizabeth Zissett of Barnwell; one sister, Brandy Ann Still Ray of Barnwell; his grandmother, Iris Still of Barnwell; nephews, David Jones and Caden Ray and his niece Allison Still.
He is predeceased by his grandparents, Reden Still , Lucille Fail, Barbara Ann Ray and Larry Joyner.

Olar - Deborah Fail Hair, 63, passed away on June 8, 2025. Funeral services will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev. Milton Sanders officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
Deborah was born in Barnwell County to the late Billy and Mary Harley Fail. Deborah was a homemaker and her favorite place to be, was anywhere with her children and family. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, dancing and she loved the beach. She loved animals, especially her yorkie “Toto”. She was a devout Christian and loved Jesus with all her heart. Deborah never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
Survivors include her two sons David Hair and his fiancé Hailey Floyd of Columbia, SC and Christopher (Jenna) Fail of Aiken, SC; two brothers Ronnie (Missy) Fail of Olar, SC and Randy Fail of Olar, SC; one sister, Linda Prater of Snelling, SC and many nieces and nephews.

Blackville - Paul Hubert Grover, 83, passed away on April 23, 2025, at MUSC Orangeburg. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Dyches Funeral Home Chapel, 11372 Ellenton Street, Barnwell, SC, at 4:00 p.m. officiated by Chad Stanfield.
Paul was born in Missouri to the late Marvin H. and Ruth Elliott Grover. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Louis, MO. He loved woodworking, working on his tractor and on his property. He was a truck driver for over fifty years. His CB Handle was “Bigfoot”. He loved watching westerns and loved watching his church tv, he loved 50’s music. He loved spending time with his family. Wherever you saw Paul he wore his “Jesus is Boss” hat. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Eugenia Kinard Grover; daughter, Angela (Mike) Ridgeway of Barnwell; step children, Cheryl Stamps of Barnwell, Ellen Webb of Hampton, Lydia (Rhyne) Lindler of Aiken, Cindy Murray of Ruffin; one brother, Gary Grover of Louisiana, MO; two sisters, Phyllis (Richard) LaBrier of Bowling Green, MO and Janet Elliott of Louisiana, MO; mother in law, Lovenia Kinard of Ehrhardt, SC, sister-in-law, Rosie Grover of Louisiana, MO; Grandchildren, Chad (Caimee) Stanfield of Spartanburg, Christie (Tim) Creech of Barnwell, Callie (Trey) Croft of Barnwell, Jackson (Lexi) Ridgeway of Aiken; Great grandchildren, Colton Uldrick, Rylan Stanfield-Ward, Bayne Croft, Coast Croft, Aspyn Croft and Banks Ridgeway.
He is predeceased by a stepson, Garland Stamps; brothers, Donald Grover, Bob Grover, Rick Grover and Jerry Grover; one sister, Dorothy Campbell and brother-in-law Herm Campbell and Jerry Elliott and sister-in-law Margaret Grover.

Barnwell – Sandra G. Helman, 75, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, surrounded by family. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Timmy Gunnells officiating.
Sandra was born to the late Bobbie and Margaret Gunnells. She was a member of Olar Baptist Church. She loved gardening, decorating and Christmas. She was a Godly woman with a kind soul who held onto her faith. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by many.
Survivors include her husband of forty-seven years, Jeff Helman; two children, Brandy Helman of Barnwell and Dallas Helman of Barnwell; one brother, Bobbie Gunnells of San Francisco; four sisters, Darlene Fuco of Jacksonville, FL, Faye Owens of Pelion, SC, Edna “Pud” Searson and Nett Martino both of Snellings, SC.; one granddaughter, Maggie Surprenant of Barnwell.
She is predeceased by two sisters, June Sweeney and Betty Cooper; brothers, Carl Gunnells, Alan Gunnells and Timmy Fuco.

Barnwell – Betty Jane Kinard Hoffman, 91, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Friday, March 28, 2025. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Barnwell First Baptist Church Chapel, Barnwell, S. C. with Rev. Jeremy Creech officiating. Visitation will be held after the service.
Betty was born July 12, 1933, in Bamberg County. She grew up in Ehrhardt, S.C. She was a graduate of Ehrhardt High School class of 1951. Betty was well known and liked. She was an active member, participating in the girls’ basketball team and cheerleading.
In 1952, Betty married Leland Eppert Hoffman. The couple resided in Allendale, S. C. and started their family having two children, Bobby and Betty Catherine. Betty was a devoted and caring mother, wife and daughter. She enjoyed spending time with her parents and two sisters, Mary Ellen Black and Mildred Campbell.
Following the death of her husband, Leland and her son, Bobby, Betty relocated her family to Barnwell. Betty was a resident of Oak Lane in Barnwell for over fifty years. Later in life Betty was employed with Shuron, Inc. until the plant closed.
Betty was a talented bowler. She was a member of a bowling team and enjoyed traveling all over the southeast, playing in tournaments. Betty also enjoyed playing bridge.
Betty was a dedicated member of Barnwell First Baptist Church and Connor Sunday school class. Betty was proud of her yard and took great pride in keeping her home and yard clean and tidy. She spent many afternoons in her yard and socializing with her neighbors. Another passion was baking for her friends and family. She is dearly remembered for her Lemon and Coconut pies. Her desserts were a family favorite during the holidays. You could always depend on her for a competitive round of horseshoes at Thanksgiving.
She is survived by her sister Mary Ellen Black of Barnwell; her granddaughter Melissa Williams Holder of Barnwell; her great grandson, Brandon (Jennifer) Cole of Barnwell; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Bryson Cole and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband Leland Hoffman; parents, Robert and Willie Emma Kinard of Ehrhardt; her younger sister Mildred Kinard Campbell of Savannah, GA; her son Bobby Hoffman and daughter Betty Catherine Baxley of Barnwell.
The family would like to thank Crescent Hospice and all her friends for their loving care.

Gary Roudell “Rudy” Elwell, 80, passed away March 20th surrounded by family. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church, 174 Red Oak Grove Rd., Modoc, SC, with the Rev. Tim Shull and Jeff Taylor officiating.

Rudy was the son of the late Roudell Elwell and Grace Bush and a member of Red Oak Grove Baptist Church. He served in the US Air Force and retired from SRS. The family owned and operated Bryer Patch Deer Processing in Modoc, SC. He loved hunting, fishing , his favorite dog, Mic and was an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife of more than 55 years, Emma “Jean” Elwell. Son, Troy (Elisa) Elwell of Modoc, SC. Grandson, Chance Elwell and great grandson, Bryer Elwell. Daughter; Alesia (Tom) Dehn of Atlanta, Ga. Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sisters, Glenda (Bob) Timmerman of Edgefield, SC and Vickie (Russell) McKie of Clarks Hill, SC.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Bamberg – James Michael Croft, 70, passed away at Lexington Medical Center on March 17, 2025, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 3 pm at Dyches Funeral Home Chapel, 11372 Ellenton Street, Barnwell, S.C. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at South End Cemetery, Bamberg S.C.
James was born in Bamberg to the late Cronnie Reden and Lillie Mae Croft. He attended Church of God of Prophecy. He loved fishing and sitting on his porch. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Darlene Croft; four children, Joey (Missy) Rutland of Barnwell, Henry M. Croft of Bamberg, Kevin (Crystal) Croft of Barnwell and Conner Hiott of Bamberg; Four brothers, Jerry (Betty Jean) Proveaux of Bamberg, Buck Still of Barnwell, Randy (Wendy) Still of Barnwell, Jason (Amber) Still of Barnwell; three sisters, Theresa Glover of Bamberg, Robin McCormick of Barnwell and Donna Still of Barnwell. Nine Grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by one child, Lisa Croft; two brothers, Robert Sweatman and Eddie Still; one sister, Reba Bowen.

Barnwell, SC - Myrtle Elkins Faglier, 89, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on February 27, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 2 pm Mount Arnon Baptist Church, Allendale, SC. Officiated by Rev. Mike Catoe and Rev. Dennie Hutto. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, March, 2, 2025, from 5-7 pm at Dyches Funeral Home, 11372 Ellenton Street, Barnwell, SC.

She loved painting, reading, gardening, baking, and birdwatching. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and will be missed by many.

Her precious great grandchild Cassian Isagani Goff and numerous nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
She is predeceased by her late husband, William Sidney Faglier, Sr., one brother, Freddie Allen Elkins and one sister, Elizabeth (Lib) Faulkner.

Leslie was born in Augusta to the late James Thomas, Jr. and Kay Joiner. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother.
She is survived by Wade Baker; her daughter, Jaimie (Paul) Sullivan of Augusta; granddaughters, Olivia and Ellen Sullivan. Six sisters; Merry-King Neville, Erin Horner, Rachael Gillespie, Sara Thomas, Donna Jeffcoat and Melanie Neumann and step-mother, Deborah Thomas.
She is predeceased by her brother, James “Bubba” Thomas, III.
