📣 Leadership Updates at People’s Health & Wellness Clinic 📣
We’re excited to share several important leadership transitions at the People’s Health & Wellness Clinic as we continue more than 30 years of service to Central Vermont.
After eight years of extraordinary service, Dr. Allan Ramsay is retiring from his role as our volunteer Medical Director. Dr. Ramsay’s leadership helped shape PHWC’s clinical standards and ensured compassionate, high-quality care for thousands of patients. While he may be stepping back from the exam room, we’re thrilled that his commitment to accessible healthcare continues.
💙 Welcome, Nicole Valcour!
We are honored to announce that Nicole Valcour, DNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, MPH, will step into the role of Medical Director. A Vermont native and former PHWC Director of Clinical Services (2015–2024), Nicole brings deep experience in primary care, mental health, public health, and a longstanding commitment to the People’s Clinic mission.
As Nicole shared:
“Free clinics like this are essential — they give people access to care they might otherwise go without, and they remind us why medicine is ultimately about compassion and community.”
👥 Board of Directors Updates
We’re also excited to welcome three new members to the PHWC Board of Directors:
• Dr. Allan Ramsay, Professor Emeritus at UVM’s Larner College of Medicine and former member of the Green Mountain Care Board
• Dr. Karen Hinkle, medical writer and communications expert specializing in translating complex science into accessible language
• Avram Patt, longtime Central Vermont public servant, former state representative, and former General Manager of Washington Electric Co-op
At the same time, we extend our deepest thanks to Caitlin Corkins, who is stepping off the board after six years of service, including time as Board Chair. Caitlin played a critical role in the purchase and renovation of PHWC’s home at 51 Church Street in Barre, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
As Executive Director Daniel Barlow shared:
“These leaders are joining PHWC at a critical moment, as public health is under attack and the need for free clinics continues to grow. Their expertise and commitment to equity and access will be invaluable.”
