John William Pelkey

MONTPELIER-John William Pelkey, of Montpelier, Vermont, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the age of 62.

Born on January 19, 1964, John was the beloved son of Rachel (Laprade) Pelkey and John Pelkey Sr. He attended school in Barre, Vermont, and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1983.

On October 2, 1987, John married the love of his life, Ann (Segale) Pelkey, at their family camp on Peacham Pond. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, laughter, and unwavering support for those around them.

John began working in his family’s Memorial Sandblast business at a young age and later founded his own business, Mobile Sandblast, in 1983. He continued the work he took great pride in throughout his life. He was also a proud Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, serving his community with dedication and faith.

John was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, especially at the camp. He loved sharing with others a place where countless memories were made. He enjoyed snowmobiling, racing, singing, meaningful conversation, and cheering on his nephews at Thunder Road. Known for his love of hockey and his signature leather cowboy hat, John was a coach through and through, always ready to offer guidance, encouragement, and a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Ann Pelkey; his son, John Pelkey Jr. and wife Ana; his daughter, Amanda Pelkey and wife Venla; and his cherished grandchild, Leevi. He is also survived by his loving mother, Rachel Pelkey; his brothers Michael Pelkey and wife Sharon, Robert Pelkey and wife Brynn, and John “John John” Pelkey and wife Rebecca; two sisters Lisa Pelkey, and Debra Stanfill and her husband Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews, along with many extended family members and countless friends whom he considered family.

John was predeceased by his father, John Pelkey Sr., and his grandparents.

John will be remembered through the many hearts he touched with his contagious energy, generous spirit, and genuine love for others. He will be forever remembered and greatly missed by those fortunate enough to know him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday June 4, 2026 at 11:30am at St. Monica Church in Barre. Burial will follow to St. Sylvesters Cemetery in Lower Websterville.

Lorin M. Burt

EAST CORINTH - Lorin M. Burt, 38 yrs. old, lived in East Corinth Vt passed away on April 5, 2026, in Corinth Vt at the intersection of Chelsea Road and Turkey Hill Road.

Lorin Burt was born in Bellows Falls Vermont on July 16, 1987, to Lou M Burt Sr and Rose L. Burt. Lorin enjoyed the outdoors from hunting, fishing, going Kayaking and being able to go in the yard as well as target practicing.

Lorin M. Burt is survived by his parents, brother and sisters, Lou Burt Sr, Rose Burt, Ladonna R. Burt-Noyes, Louella M. Burt, Lou M. Burt Jr, Brother-in-law Henry Noyes, Sister-in-law Rebecca Burt, Niece Joselyn Branning, Nephews Iden Burt, James Branning, Demtrias Burt and Oliver Burt. Also, his Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law Sharon and Tim Donahue.

Lorin’s funeral was on April 16, 2026, at the Vermont Forest Cemetery on Roxbury Mountain. It is a natural burial cemetery, which Lorin wanted. Lorin is situated near some Maple trees, near a stone wall, as well as you can hear the brook running. Everyone is welcome to go to the cemetery, the only thing that is brought can only be biodegradable.

Edward J. Zeno

WATERBURY - Edward John Zeno, 67, of Waterbury, Vermont, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 3, 2026, after a long battle with COPD.

Edward was born in 1958 and was originally from Bristol, Vermont. He spent most of his life as a proud resident of Waterbury, where he built lifelong friendships and became a familiar face in the community.

Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Trudy Zeno, and his father, Marvin Zeno. He is survived by his mother, Bev Zeno; his sister, Rhonda Zeno; his daughter, Sarah Zeno; and his son, Joshua Burt and wife Katie.

He also leaves behind the grandchildren he loved dearly: Ashley, Sierra, Daniella, Levi, and Kamryn, children of Sarah Zeno; and Jacob, Kiara, and Kai’leaigh, children of Joshua Burt and Katie. Edward was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Emmett, son of Ashley Zeno, and Octavia, daughter of Jacob Burt.

Edward also leaves behind many beloved extended family members throughout Vermont, Connecticut, and Michigan.

Edward was a devoted member and former Post Commander of the American Legion in Waterbury, Vermont. He valued his community, his fellow veterans, and the many lifelong friendships he made over the years. He was also a passionate NASCAR fan, and you could always find him enjoying the races every weekend.

Edward will be remembered for his loyalty to family and friends, his love of conversation, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.

Services for Edward will be held on May 31, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the American Legion in Waterbury, Vermont.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice in Edward’s memory.

Timothy S. Audy

NORTHFIELD - Timothy “Tim” Scott Audy passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, in Northfield, Vermont, at the age of 58.

Born in Central Vermont on April 27, 1968, Tim was the beloved son of Donna Colby Audy and John Audy Sr. He spent his childhood in Montpelier, Vermont, and graduated from Union 32 High School.

Tim was an avid sports fan from an early age. As a youth, he played a variety of sports and spent many afternoons playing basketball at the Recreation Center on Barre Street in Montpelier. He especially enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Boston Red Sox and often made one-dollar bets with his brother David over games and seasons. Tim also loved playing cribbage, a game he learned as a child from his grandfather, Lancer Utton, at the family’s Worcester Mountain camp.

Music was another great passion in Tim’s life. Eventually, he moved to Austin, Texas, where his love of music flourished. While living there, he played drums in the band “Orange Mothers” and immersed himself in the vibrant Austin music scene, especially enjoying the annual South by Southwest and Austin City Limits music festivals. Tim cherished any opportunity to listen to music or jam on the drums or guitar with friends.

After returning to Vermont from Texas, Tim reconnected with the love of his life, Elaine Soucie, in Connecticut. He frequently traveled by train between Vermont and Connecticut to visit her before eventually moving there and building a loving life together filled with laughter, playfulness, and the companionship of their adopted dog, Marley, until Elaine’s passing in September 2025.

Tim was known for his kind heart and compassionate nature. His caring spirit naturally led him to work at the Texas Schools for the Blind and Deaf while living in Austin, and later as a private in-home caregiver in New England for nearly 15 years. Tim carried his dedication to helping others throughout his life.

Tim is survived by his brothers, Mark Audy and his wife, Kathleen Kenworthy; Paul Audy; and John Audy Jr. and his wife, Kathy, all of Vermont. He is also survived by his brothers at heart, Tim Azarian and Mike Trombly, as well as his nieces and nephews: Joshua, Ashley, Erica, and Emmaline Audy; Grace (Alex) Gabaree; Jessica (Justin) Lapan and Makayla Audy; Madison, Collin, and Ethan Audy. He is also survived by his aunt, Barbara (Jeffrey) Hartman of Alabama, and his cousins, Shawn Davis of Maryland, and Sharon Davis and her husband, Michael Burke, of Vermont.

He was predeceased by his loving partner, Elaine Soucie; his mother, Donna Colby Audy; his father, John Audy Sr.; his brother, David Audy; and his uncle, Ernest “Ernie” W. Colby.

Tim will be remembered for his compassion, loyalty, and love for family and friends. His kindness and gentle spirit will be deeply missed.

A graveside service for Tim, along with his mother, Donna, will be held jointly on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at the Worcester Village Cemetery, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at the East Barre VFW Post 790.

Cleo R. Carr

BARRE - Cleo “Finn” Ripley Carr left us on May 13th, 2026. Finn brought intensity to every aspect of their life: with their intelligence, with their ethics, with their feelings, and with their art. In their thirteen years of life, they studied the world intently, always wanted to understand the “why” of things, continued to grow as an artist, and found peace in music, hikes through nature, and caring for their best friend Molly the dog.

They are survived by their mother Annick Jean, father Neil Carr, sister Juno Carr, step-mother Ana Carr, step-sister Heloisa Vasconcelos Ribeiro, and step-brother Raul Vasconcelos Ribeiro. Finn has a host of extended family, friends, classmates, teachers, and community members that have loved and cared for them throughout their life. They touched lives across the United States, Canada, and Brazil. Finn is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Services for Finn will be held on Saturday June 13th, 2026 at 11am at the Barre Congregational Church, 35 Church St, Barre, VT 05641. All are welcome to attend and celebrate their life with us.

Wesley H. Guyette Jr.

BARRE - It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wesley H. Guyette Jr., who departed this life peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 88. Wesley, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was surrounded by love and care at Woodridge Nursing Home in Barre, VT, as he concluded his long and courageous battle with dementia.

Born on September 16, 1937, in Burlington, VT, Wesley was the beloved son of the late Wesley Guyette Sr. and Eva Bostwick Guyette. He was predeceased by his parents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins who held a special place in his heart.

Wesley is survived by his devoted spouse Michele M. Guyette, whom he married on March 19, 1994, at Saint Monica Parish, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together. He leaves behind his loving son, Victor Guyette, and stepson, Andre J. Welch, who were the pride and joy of his life. Wesley was a doting grandfather to Yvonna and Gabriel Guyette, and Lily and Ruby Welch, who brought immense joy to his later years. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of close friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity.

Wesley's educational journey began at Spaulding High School in Barre, VT. He furthered his studies at Paul Smith's College in New York, where he developed a deep love for nature that would guide his professional life. Wesley dedicated 44 years to the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation, where he wore many hats and mentored countless upcoming foresters. His passion for the natural world was evident in everything he did, and he was admired for his dedication and expertise.

A proud veteran, Wesley served in the Vermont National Guards as a Staff Supply Sergeant, where he became an excellent marksman. His military service was a testament to his commitment to his country and community.

Wesley was an active member of the Catholic Church and found camaraderie at the Barre Weightlifting Club, where he earned an honorary trophy. In his youth, he was also a member of the high school wrestling team. His love for sports was surpassed only by his love for his family.

He was a man of many talents and interests, including nature, fishing, swimming, boating, traveling, photography, woodworking, and art. However, it was his family that truly occupied the center of his heart. Wesley's quick wit, endearing sense of humor, and infectious smile could light up any room, and he delighted in making others laugh and feel at ease.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Wesley's life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Monica Church, located on Summer Street in Barre, VT, with a burial to follow at Wilson Cemetery in Lower Websterville. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Boys & Girls Club of VT and St. Jude Children's Hospital in Wesley's honor.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Woodridge Nursing Home for their exceptional care and compassion. They are also deeply appreciative of the outpouring of love, prayers, and beautiful cards from friends near and far during this difficult time.

Wesley H. Guyette Jr. will be remembered for his indomitable spirit, unwavering kindness, and the profound love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy of laughter, love, and dedication to both family and nature will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in eternal peace.

Cynthia A. (Bresette) Vlamis Nichols

BARRE - Cynthia Ann (Bresette) Vlamis Nichols, 78, of Barre, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at her home. Cindy was born in Pittsfield, MA on October 7, 1947, and was the daughter of the late William (Bill) Bresette and Merle Roselyn (LaValley) Bresette. Cindy graduated from Spaulding High School, class of 1967. Later on in life, Cindy went back to school to earn her associates degree from Community College of Vermont (1999) and went on to graduate from Johnson State University with a bachelor’s degree and high honors (2008).

Cindy met her first husband Constantin (Costa) at the Green Mountain Diner in Barre, VT. He owned and operated his own granite shop in Barre with his brother Chris. After getting married, Cindy moved with Costa and his brother Chris to Tripoli, Greece, where she was the secretary to their family business, Acropolis Monuments. While there, she also volunteered at Tripoli’s Psychiatric Institution. Her first marriage ended in divorce and was to the late Constatin Vlamis, whom she had two children: daughter Angela (Penny) Vlamis (Panagiotis) of Zakynthos, Greece, and son Angelo (Nicholas) Vlamis (Georgiana) of Los Angeles, CA.

After divorcing Costa, Cindy returned to the states and settled in Daytona, FL, where she owned and operated her own restaurant, Zorba the Greek. That is where she met her second husband whom she later divorced. Her second marriage was to the late Evans George Nichols, whom she had her son Theodore (Roulie) Nichols of Barre, VT.

Cindy worked for various organizations after returning to Vermont, retiring from the State of Vermont Department of Corrections, where she was a probation and parole officer in Barre. While working for the Department of Corrections, Cindy received the award “The Costco Queen”. On a serious note, Cindy also received a letter from Governor Madeline Kunin for Outstanding Performance and many other awards.

When Cindy wasn’t at work, she enjoyed traveling to Greece to visit her daughter and grandchildren; she taught herself to speak the language. She also enjoyed going to various hockey events, plays, graduations, weddings, cookouts, and retirement ceremonies of her nieces and nephews. She loved to spend time going to yard sales all over Vermont with her friends. Cindy will take her loving cat Rusty to rest with her. He kept her company and on her toes daily.

Cindy leaves behind her children Penny, Nicky, Roulie, as well as her granddaughters Krystalenia Kakolyri and Antonia Kakolyri of Zakynthos, Greece, sister Merle (Plante) Hutchins (Gary) of Arizona, Susan (Bresette) Kelley (Steve) of Barre, VT, Nancy (Bresette) Palin (Chris) of Florida, and brother Tom Plante (Sharon) of New York, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Cindy was predeceased by her parents Bill and Merle Bresette, her brother Roy Plante, niece Roxanne Slayton, nephews Rennie Plante, Shaun Colbeth, great niece Jessica Bresette, and great-nephew Joey Bott.

By wishes of Cynthia there will be no services or calling hours. There will be a gathering to celebrate Cindy on June 28, 2026, at 2pm at Gusto’s, 28 Prospect Street in Barre. Snacks will be provided, but if you would like to bring a dish feel free to do so.

Kenneth P. Yearman

BERLIN-Kenneth P. Yearman, 85, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, Vermont. Born June 10, 1940, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late John and Alda (Beaver) Yearman and the second youngest of eight children.

After moving to Northfield in 1943, Ken eventually joined the Air Force and built a distinguished career in the Vermont Air National Guard. As a Master Sergeant, he served as a mechanic on EB-57 bombers and F-4 Phantoms. He married Marilyn (Root) Durkee in 1967 after which they lived in Montpelier, Vermont. They had one son together, Kenneth Jr.

Ken retired from the military in 1986 and worked another 12 years in Defense Logistics.

In 1988, Ken married Diane McMurphy. Together, they built a home and a beautiful life in Worcester, where they lived for over 30 years. They shared a love for raising Dachshunds and camping. Ken was involved in his community, serving with the Worcester Fast Squad, Jay Peak Ski Patrol, and the Vermont State Guard, as well as teaching hunter safety and working part-time at Cabot Creamery. His wife Diane passed away in 2024.

He leaves behind his son, Ken (Diane) Yearman Jr.; stepchildren Shari Sellers, Terri (Rigoberto) Olivarez, Jeffrey (Lidia) Rittenhouse, Richard (Lisa) Durkee, and Lisa (Perry) Branson; his sister, Judy; sister-in-law Bonnie McMurphy; and a large, cherished legacy of grand and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held June 27, 2026, at the Wilson Cemetery in Barre Town, VT, at eleven o’clock.

Raymond C. Brooks

BARRE - Raymond “Ray” Clyde Brooks, 59, of Barre, Vermont, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Ray was born on October 24, 1966, in Barre, Vermont. Ray was the son of Raymond Brooks and Joan Spooner Brooks, who predeceased him.

Ray graduated from the Spaulding Diversified Occupations program in 1985. He lived in Vermont his whole life, residing in his apartment in Barre for the last 14 years. In 2003, Ray alerted authorities to an apartment fire and was known as the Hero of Hardwick.

Ray was happiest relaxing at home with his Maine C**n cat, Loki. He loved that cat! Ray enjoyed watching his favorite television shows and movies, especially Airwolf. He enjoyed going out for rides, especially in Big Red, scoping out turkeys and driving by farms. Ray loved trips to Wayside Diner for pancakes and Dunkin’ for hot chocolate and munchkins. He loved listening to his scanner and was always hoping for a massive thunderstorm to knock the power out. He always had backups of flashlights and batteries. As the thunderstorms begin to return, may we remember Ray, and the force of nature that he was.

Deepest gratitude is being sent to all of the humans who have helped Ray throughout the years.

Linda L. Johnson

ORANGE - Linda L. (Cusson) Johnson, 61, of Orange, Vermont, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, the love, laughter, and warmth she brought into the lives of others will never be forgotten.

Linda was born on July 14, 1964, in Barre, Vermont, to George and Irene Cusson. She grew up in Barre and attended Spaulding High School. From an early age, Linda had a spirited personality, a contagious laugh, and a way of making people feel welcomed and cared for.

On August 31, 1991, she married the love of her life, Randall Johnson. Together, they built a home and a life in Orange, Vermont, where they raised their beloved son, Justin.

Linda’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being Justin’s mother. He was her “sonshine,” the center of her world, and the bond they shared was one of unconditional love, laughter, loyalty, and deep understanding. Whether through everyday conversations, shared jokes, family traditions, or simply being together, Linda’s love for Justin was constant and unwavering. She spoke of him with endless pride and loved him with all her heart.

Linda will be remembered for her vibrant personality, sense of humor, kindness, and the way she made people feel like family. She had a gift for bringing laughter into a room and could turn ordinary moments into cherished memories. She was caring and fiercely loyal to the people she loved. Friends were family to Linda, and her home and heart were always open to others.

She enjoyed cooking for those she loved, listening to loud music, attending races at Thunder Road, gathering around a fire with friends and family, searching for fiddleheads in the spring, and spending time with her beloved feline companion, BigBoy. In her younger years, she was a fierce softball player and maintained many close friendships from those years. More than anything, Linda treasured large family gatherings filled with stories, laughter, teasing, food, and love. Those moments brought her great happiness.

Linda is survived by her devoted son, Justin; her sisters, Lorraine Martel and husband Michael, and Jeanne Trevett; her nieces, Jeanne and Kaitlin; her maternal aunt, Suzanne Sage, with whom she shared an especially close and meaningful relationship; and her uncle, Treff Sage and wife Judy. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly and spoke of often with pride and affection.

She is also survived by her in-laws, Richard and Judith Johnson; sisters-in-law Jan Pecor and husband Archie, Jody Dindo and husband Matt, Jill Bruce and husband Shawn, and Julie Roy and husband Mark; brothers-in-law Rick Johnson and wife Michelle, and Rob Johnson and husband Tom; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.

Linda was predeceased by her husband, Randall Johnson; her sister, Rose Cusson; and her parents. Though reunited with those she loved, her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 11:00 am at Brook Haven Cemetery, with a gathering to follow at The Den. Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories, laughter, and memories in honor of Linda’s life and the joy she brought to so many.

Barbara J. Bassett

BARRE - Barbara Josephine Bassett, 84, passed away on March 5, 2026, at her home in Barre, Vermont. Barbara was born on July 5, 1941, in West Stewartstown, New Hampshire. She was the youngest of the 4 children born to Claude Bassett and Orphise Perras Bassett.

Barbara is survived by her nieces, Leilani and Heather (Antonio), and her great-nieces, Brisa, Maya, Serena, and Marlinda, who all live in California. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Claudette in 2021, her brother Ashley in 2019, and her brother Ernest, who tragically passed away in 1952.

Barbara spent her early years in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Her family had a restaurant in Beecher Falls, VT, which bordered Canada and New Hampshire. They also owned Camp Claudette, on Averill Lake near Canaan, VT. Camp Claudette stayed in the family until the early 2000’s, and Barbara always enjoyed her time at the Camp. She grew up hunting, fishing, and trapping with her father and brothers. Barbara was a self-professed tomboy and was most at home at the Camp or in the surrounding woods.

Barbara went to Holy Ghost Convent School in Graniteville, Spaulding High School in Barre, and then attended Vermont College in Montpelier where she learned secretarial skills. She was employed by the State of Vermont, as a secretary for the Department of Education. She spent 35 years working as a secretary for the Driver’s Education Program. Her office was across the street from the Vermont State House, where she had a view of the golden dome. Barbara retired from the State in 1996.

Barbara lived most of her life in Graniteville where her grandmother, and then her parents ran the boarding house for the Rock of Ages granite quarry. She moved to the newer, smaller boarding house in 1964, after the “Big House” was torn down. Her mother did the cooking for the boarding house, not a skill that Barbara acquired.

After her mother died in 1984, Barbara stayed in various apartments in Barre and Montpelier. She lived alone until her sister came to live with her in 2008.

Barbara always liked to socialize and was an active bowler in her 20’s and 30’s. She was raised in the Catholic Church and spent much of her free time in various activities supporting the church. She always wanted to be a nun and was involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement of the Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Friday, May 22nd at noon at St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. A committal service will be held immediately after the service at the family plot at St. Sylvester Cemetery. It will be followed by a reception at Barbara’s cousin’s house: 28 Maple Ave, Barre, VT.
