Calendula calendula!. How I love thee! Your scent and your bright light and how lovely you are on a salad…not to mention the way you soothe the skin, the fussy belly and keep our lymph moving. What more can I say? I can say: grow more !!! Make it your most important plant to grow even if it’s in a pot on a deck ( although ki does love to flop over so make it a big pot!). And then harvest it to keep you going all winter long.

It's August and that means there's foraging to be done! This Sunday I am leading a plant walk and herbal medicine making workshop at Tuckaway Farm in Lee NH. We'll walk the farm, gather some herbs for food and medicine and then head to the kitchen to create all sorts of preparations for you to take home for your own herbal apothecary! This is the week! I'm excited to be vending and teaching at this year's Herb and Garden Day on June 7th! I love this festival - so many great vendors and workshops for the herb-curious and the dedicated herbalist as well!

Stop by my booth and pick up some plants for you garden. I'll also have some oils, glycerites and dried herbs for sale for those who aren't the gardening sort.

I'm also doing an all-ages workshops! I'll be showing you how to gather and press plants for craft projects or for your own herbarium.

Seed to Soil Garden Gathering is coming up this Saturday, March 22 from 9 - 5 and we’ve got some really great presenters lined up to share their knowledge and passion with you!

In the morning, Linh Avens and Elizabeth Haskett of will be doing a demonstration of kernel-to-oven cornbread, followed by “table talks” from local garden-centered groups. Then we’ll share a potluck lunch (including the cornbread - of course!) and in the afternoon there are three talks:

- Hannah Traggis of Aurelias garden will be sharing the story of how a came together to grow a garden to ensure food security in their community.
- Akilah Campbell of Heritage Harvest Project will talk about her upcoming Zuri Wingi Beautiful Abundance garden at featuring African Diaspora and Indigenous crops
- Alison Magill of The Well Cultivated Life will teach us to appreciate - and eat - the weeds that show up in our gardens for greater nourishment and vitality!

As women, we spend a third of our lives in the menopausal years. So why are there so few supportive options available to us outside of hormone replacement therapy, when we have been living long and vital lives for thousands of years with the help of healing plants? It's time to rediscover those herbs so that we can enter our wise women years with grace and love.

While the wonderful herb known as Black Cohosh is often suggested for helping us transition out of our reproductive years, there are many other amazing and powerful herbs available.
