While "falling back" technically grants us an extra hour, the shift in daylight can often leave us feeling more fatigued than refreshed. As our internal clocks adjust to the earlier sunset, it is common to experience a temporary dip in energy and focus.
To help your body acclimate and maintain your well-being during this transition, the Board of Health recommends the following:
Prioritize morning sunlight: Exposure to natural light early in the day helps reset your circadian rhythm.
Maintain a consistent sleep schedule: Aim for the same wake and sleep times daily to stabilize your internal clock.
Avoid stimulants before bed: Limiting caffeine and alcohol in the evening ensures higher-quality restorative sleep.
No matter your age, sleep plays a vital role in maintaining good health. Make sure you and your family are getting the recommended hours of sleep for your age. Learn more: https://www.cdc.gov/sleep/index.html
