Kamala's Own carries over 500 oils, over 100 incenses, and over 100 herbs. We hand make soaps, massage oils, lotions, and bath salts with no artificial colors or preservatives. As of March 15, 2011, all of our products are gluten-free. Many of our essential oils are organic. We are a woman-owned, independent craft business, not a distributor or MLM.

Continuing on with celebrating the 40th anniversary of my business, today’s offering is one of the first perfume blends I ever made.

Have you ever met a woman who doesn’t seem to put a lot of effort into her appearance, but who is nevertheless incredibly elegant? Lady was made for just such a woman. It is one of my oldest blends, originally made for a college friend of mine. This elegant yet simple scent has been compared to the designer perfume 'Joy' even though that was not my intent when I made it. Lady is a classic floral blend with Rose, Bergamot, and Jasmine. It’s Wayback Wednesday and we’re back in 1986 again. I’ve been in business 40 years now! Unreal! This is me in my very first craft fair booth. This booth broke down into 5 easy pieces and fit in the back of my Honda Accord hatchback with bungee cords. This photo was taken at a craft fair in Live Oak Park in Berkeley, CA. I had about 20 oils at the time, and three different sizes of bottles. Oils was all I had. Amazing to think about having so little inventory now! I did love that booth though. ❤️ ⚜

As we continue to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Kamala’s Own Perfumery, here is another blend I’ve been making for decades. Products I’ve made for many years tend to get changed along the way as suppliers go out of business, and my knowledge increases. Headache Comforter has only gone through two small changes over the years. It’s essentially the same as it was many years ago. Why? Because so many people tell me that it works for them. It’s Throwback Thursday! Yep, this is me, 40 years ago in 1986, getting ready for an expedition into the bustling markets of Old Delhi to place my very first bulk order for pure essential oils. The pink and gold jewelry box was purchased in China, where I was teaching English at the Tang Shan Institute of Technology before I came to India. I still have that jewelry box! I felt that this was a pivotal day for me at the time, but little did I know what a long, strange trip it would be! ❤️ 😳 😱

Since 2026 is the 40th anniversary of my business, here is the first perfume blend I ever made. I’m stunned and elated that this formula actually still sells! Of course, it has changed a bit over 40 years because my ingredient suppliers have changed, but the youthful spirit of this Jasmine and Bitter Almond concoction hasn’t changed at all. We often recommend it for feminine presenting folks under the age of 21.
