Kamala's Own carries over 500 oils, over 100 incenses, and over 100 herbs. We hand make soaps, massage oils, lotions, and bath salts with no artificial colors or preservatives. As of March 15, 2011, all of our products are gluten-free. Many of our essential oils are organic. We are a woman-owned, independent craft business, not a distributor or MLM.

Demeter is the Greek earth goddess associated with fertility, birth, grain, and the harvest. She is best known for the story of her daughter Persephone. When Persephone is abducted to the underworld by Hades, Deneter’s grief plunges the world into cold and darkness, creating the seasons as we know them. Thus, she is heavily associated with autumn, motherhood, and the astrological sign of Virgo. Her scent is dark with Vetiver (a relative of wheat) and Myrrh (symbolizing loss). Hi, I’m Kamala and my favorite thing to do is to create new scents based on ideas I love. My ideas come from history, books, mythology, and my imagination. I also make aromatherapy blends to help with issues of body, mind, and spirit. I’ve been doing this for 40 years now. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears goes into owning a micro business like mine but it’s all worth it to me when I see someone’s face light up because of something I’ve made, or hear that a creation of mine has improved someone’s quality of life.
