With school back in session, we want to offer FREE speech therapy screenings (a $50 value) through the month of September for families who want a quick, professional check-in.

🔎 What is a Speech Screening?

A screening is a quick, informal check (about 15–20 minutes) by a licensed speech-language pathologist. It helps us see if your child’s communication, speech sounds, language skills, or feeding & oral motor skills are developing on track for their age.

After the screening, you’ll either:
✅ Get reassurance that your child is developing as expected,
✅ Receive a recommendation for a full evaluation if we see areas that could benefit from support.

Attention Parents! If you have a child that qualifies for special education services through the public school system in the state of Texas, we can help! Play On Words Speech Therapy is now offering IEP (Individualized Education Plan) consultative services to help you plan and prepare for your child’s upcoming ARD meeting. Through this service, we offer one-on-one parent coaching and support to help walk you through your child’s IEP to familiarize yourself with what to expect through the IEP process. We can also provide consultation on any speech and language related IEP questions. We want to empower and equip you as an integral part of the IEP team!

Areas of support include, but are not limited to:
-transitioning from early intervention into public schools
-initial placement into special education
-annual ARD meetings

I am the part time Office Receptionist at Play on Words Pediatric Speech Therapy!

I am a Louisiana native living in Argyle, TX. I am married to my husband of 12 years. We have 3 kiddos, two of which are boy/girl twins!! As a family we love spending our time in the swimming pool, around a campfire and watching LSU football!!

I have been a stay at home mom for the past 9 years and have loved every minute of it! Now that my kids are all in school, I am looking forward to having something to put my energy towards a few days a week. I enjoy meeting new people, staying organized, and helping where needed!

I am the Office Receptionist at Play on Words!

I was born in Kansas but moved to Texas when I was young. I love Texas and it has become my home!

I have worked as an Executive Assistant and Art Director and have experience with scheduling, organization, and communication! I have also worked with kids since high school and have a passion for helping kids learn!

I am currently going to school at UNT for studio art! In my free time, I love to do commissions and personalized paintings of pets and people. Being creative is something I always value!
I also act in my free time and am a film enthusiast! My favorite movie right now is Spider Man Across the Universe!

We are so excited to welcome Elise Holder, M.S. CF-SLP to our Play on Words Family!! 🦔

Hi, I’m Elise!
I grew up in the Argyle area and am excited to serve my community by providing speech and language services here! I love speech language pathology and believe in making therapy fun and functional for all clients. I graduated with my bachelor’s in speech, language, and hearing sciences from Texas Tech University where I had the opportunity to participate in research on pediatric language learning. Recently, I graduated with my master’s degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Texas at Dallas where I gained clinical experience in the areas of pediatric speech, language, augmentative and alternative communication, and feeding. During my time in grad school I also worked in the public schools as a licensed speech-language pathologist assistant.

I am passionate about providing speech and language services so my clients can feel confident and empowered to communicate their own stories and ideas to members of their community on a daily basis.

In my free time I enjoy writing, hiking nature trails, enjoying a good book or movie, and spending quality time with friends and family.

I am thankful to be a part of the team at Play on Words and am excited to provide in-depth personalized care to my clients and their families. I can’t wait to celebrate each child’s accomplishments along their unique speech/language/feeding journey!

Hello! My name is Lindsay. It's nice to meet you! I graduated with my Master's of Science in Speech Language Pathology from the University of North Texas in 2014, and my Bachelor's in Communication Science Disorders from Texas Woman's University in 2012.

I have worked in public schools through the Denton County Special Education Cooperative as well as with Argyle ISD. I spent one year in Colorado at a private practice. I have worked with ages 18 months to 18 years in all areas of speech and language. I enjoy making speech FUN by being silly, using books, and playing.

I currently live in Northlake, Texas with my husband and our two young children. In our free time, we like to make crafts, garden, go for drives, and spend time together.

Hi I'm Amy Herrera,

I'm ecstatic to be joining the Play on Words team as their Office Administrator!
A little about me, My Family and I live in Argyle. My husband, Hersson is a Firefighter in Carrollton and we have three spunky kiddos, Olivia and our twins Mila & Jude. We enjoy family game and movie nights together.

For the last seven years, I have had the privilege to work as a stay at home mom raising our sweet babies. I'm excited to put my organizational skills and passion for interacting with people to use outside of my home! Previously, I worked in office management with over 12 years experience. I oversaw administrative tasks including scheduling, billing, and correspondence. Having held positions in the agricultural, medical, and
business fields, I am able to tailor my skills to meet the needs of our clients.

I have known Annie for about 6 years and couldn't be happier to be working for someone that I admire so much. She is a true beacon of light and such a gifted Speech therapist, her level of kindness and patience is inspiring. I'm so excited to be part of the Play on Words family!

We are so excited to welcome Jennifer Ordoñez, M.S., CCC-SLP join our team!

I’m Jennifer! I am so excited to be joining the Play On Words team as a licensed/certified Speech-Language Pathologist. A little about me, I graduated from University of New Mexico in 2016 with a Master of Science degree in Speech-Hearing Sciences and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Audiology and Speech Language Sciences from University of Northern Colorado in 2012.

Since then, I have worked in the public school setting in the DFW area. Through these years, I have had the opportunity to work with children ages 3-11 presenting with an array of speech/language disorders including those in expressive/receptive language, speech sound production, and fluency. I have experience in working in special instructional programs on school campuses serving students with varied disorders/disabilities (i.e. intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities). I am passionate about bringing in play-based therapy to my sessions to facilitate communication opportunities within a naturalistic environment. I value the partnership with my clients and families to provide effective, individualized therapy and the opportunity to empower them to carryover skills and strategies in their home and community.

I currently live in Northlake with my husband and two young daughters. In our free time, we love taking walks in our neighborhood, reading books, and spending time in local coffee shops.
