"This week we are featuring an article written in 2015 about our founder, Greg Roskopf, and how he developed Muscle Activation Techniques® (MAT®):
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Broncos fans can thank a rock quarry in Iowa for extending Peyton Manning’s career. That quarry is where, in 1982, William Penn University linebacker Greg Roskopf fell 20 feet, suffering a lower lumber compression fracture.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Eighteen years later, the injury would lead Roskopf, now a sports medicine specialist, to develop Muscle Activation Techniques, a treatment for musculoskeletal imbalance that Manning has been receiving once a week for the past six years. (He flew Englewood-based Roskopf to Indianapolis every two weeks before Denver snagged the QB in 2012.) In a 2012 Sports Illustrated piece, Manning credited MAT for helping prolong his career. Fortunately for you and me, the treatment is not just for the pros.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Muscle Activation Technique is essentially a highly personalized assessment and treatment of imbalances in body mechanics that Roskopf developed over the course of about 10 years, largely in search of his own relief.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Despite taking a year off from football in college, Roskopf’s back continued to plague him into his 20s. While completing his master’s in physical education, he also started experiencing knee and foot problems.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I thought, If I’m this bad at 25, what am I going to be like at 50?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So between his jobs as a strength and conditioning coach for California State University Fresno and later the Utah Jazz, he studied the interconnection of the musculoskeletal system, attending seminars with the foremost specialists in everything from sports medicine to podiatry. In 2000, he put it all together in MAT."

Shoulder pain got you down?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you know that shoulder pain is the third most common complaint that our clients come to us for?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The shoulder is a very complex and fragile joint that can get tweaked easily if the muscles aren't firing correctly. Luckily, with MAT shoulder pain can usually be resolved in less than 10 sessions depending on severity. Eliminate shoulder pain for good by setting up your free 15-minute consultation call today via the link in our bio!

Muscle Atrophy & MAT
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"This is a particular case study of a patient of mine who has a peripheral demyelinating neuropathy known as Charcot Marie Tooth disease. CMT affects all myelinated peripheral nerves leading to significant body-wide muscle atrophy. Distal muscles of the hand and lower leg demonstrate especially pronounced weakness. Muscle wasting can result in joint instability and deformation.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My patient has undergone four reconstructive foot surgeries but has managed to stay physically active. However, at the time of menopause, she experienced very rapid muscle atrophy. Within 6 months, she was no longer able to ascend normal 7-inch stairs and within one year, she needed to use a walker. It was at this point a friend heard about Muscle Activation Techniques® and sent her our way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because her feet were so sensitive to touch, I decided to work more proximally starting with the trunk and spine and move distally as tolerated. In turn, this helped her ability to stand more erect and walk with better upright posture. Additionally, she started to notice an immediate improvement in trunk and hip control. How? By addressing the contractile efficiency of each muscle.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over several sessions, we were able to work down the chain and address her feet. She is now walking completely independently and increasing her tolerance to exercise all the time. She is increasing her reps, resistance, and overall muscle strength ― frankly, MAT® has been a life-changer for her." - Mark Trombold, Physical Therapist and MAT® Practitioner

Our Story

My name is Sam, and I empower people to make educated decisions when it comes to their health and wellness.

To understand why, I believe you need to know my story. The why behind the what.

I grew up playing three sports at high levels. I was perpetually injured growing up, always out with a pulled this or a strained that, but nothing so serious that I sought help.
