Meet RFL Academy 2025 participant, Nichole O’Neil!

Nichole grew up in Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech University with a B.A. in Communications. In early 2021, she relocated to the Roaring Fork Valley where she works remotely as a management consultant for Accenture. Outside the office, she serves on the board of HeadQuarters and the Carbondale Arts Gallery Committee. Nichole enjoys being active in nature, being near water, yoga, writing, painting, travel, learning, and meeting new people. At RFL, she is excited to grow her leadership skills and learn about being an effective leader in the community.

🌟 Wow! We are truly inspired by Coco and her story! 🌟

At just 8th grade, Coco is using her voice and passion to raise awareness about neurofeedback and brain mapping—a powerful tool for mental wellness that has changed her life. Born at just 23 weeks, she has faced unique challenges, but through brain mapping, she gained a deeper understanding of her strengths and learned strategies to thrive.

Now, she’s on a mission to help others access this life-changing resource by fundraising to sponsor brain mapping sessions for those in need. 💙

Coco, we are beyond grateful for your generosity and advocacy, and we can’t wait to see the impact you make! Let’s support her incredible effort together! 🙌

So beyond honored for the highlight of an initiative to work more collaboratively for the future of all of the communities we serve. Thank you Aspen Community Foundation

Mental health services continue to be a critical need for community members in the valley. 💙 Although people are aware of this, they aren't aware of where they can go for preventative services like when they're not in crisis or to improve their mental fitness. In early 2024, HeadQuarters convened leaders in the mental health space to form the Behavioral Health Leadership Group. This group's goal is to improve access to mental health resources and support by bringing together stakeholders to explore what might be possible through collaboration and connectivity. These leaders are working on ways to remove barriers to receiving services, like creating a shared language and launching a marketing strategy to raise awareness about available resources. Read more about the Behavioral Health Leadership Group below.

The Aspen to Parachute region has been invited to participate in a mental health shared measurement project being conducted throughout mountain resort regions in the United States. The project is gathering data from mental health providers, the community and youth to help highlight our community's needs and data will be displayed in a “dashboard” that can be used by many in our community to help highlight our needs and compare to similar communities around the country.

Aspen Community Foundation is partnering with Aspen Hope Center, The Aspen Institute Hurst Community Initiative, West Mountain Regional Health Alliance, HeadQuarters, Midvalley Family Practice PC and Mind Springs Health & West Springs Hospital to implement this survey in our region. The survey closes February 16 and the data will be released in late spring. We value your input and would be grateful for your participation: https://www.prcsurvey.com/response/participate?proj=2023046402&int=387
