Texas Advanced Practice Providers! Several bills have been introduced that seek to restrict NPs and PAs within the Aesthetic and Wellness Industry.
HB 3749, 3889, 3890 are three bills that have recently been filed in the Texas statehouse will strip NPs and PAs of the ability to diagnose, prescribe and establish a patient relationship with new patients in medical spa practices (HB 3749) and in all specialties of medicine in Texas (HB 3889.) Additionally, a third bill (HB 3890) would limit the ability of non-core physicians to supervise and delegate to NPs and PAs, making it prohibitive for non-core physicians to enter the medical aesthetics field.
These bills fail to address the existing issues faced by the medical aesthetics industry; unlicensed and undertrained providers and illegally sourced product, being the primary issue as evident by recent events seen in the news over the last several years in Texas.
We must join together in fighting these bills! Email or write your representatives in opposition to these bills!
I have created a letter template through the utilization of information recieved from my AmSpa membership. I emailed my Texas House and Senate Reps today. I can send a copy to whoever comments and requests it.
If you donโt know who your representatives are you can use this link to type in your address and locate the representatives website. Both of mine had an Email Me link to copy and paste to.

If you need further information or want to become active in fighting these bills in other ways besides just emailing or writing your representatives, here is information from AMSpa who has created a new Texas Chapter to fight these bills.

If ANA or TNA send emails for ways to be active in fighting these bills, I will update the post. As of now, only AMSpa has sent multiple emails over the last few weeks with information, updates of new bill introductions, and ways to oppose them.
**These Bills do not just affect the MedSpa industry, they seek to restrict NPs and PAs. Our future practice is being attacked**
*You Donโt have to be a nurse to email your representatives in opposition of these bills. Anyone can do so.
