Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties

Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties The Children’s Advocacy Center exists to provide a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to the problem of child abuse in our community.

We aspire to reduce trauma, seek justice, and foster healing and empowerment to child victims of abuse and their non-offending families and caregivers. Our vision is to facilitate the collaboration with agency professionals from Law Enforcement, Child Protection, Prosecution and Medical to assess and support abused children and their non-offending family members. The Children’s Advocacy Center started in Bastrop in a small rented house in 1992. A veteran Child Protective Services (CPS) worker volunteered her time and efforts to keep the Center operational. In 2000, the Center purchased, renovated, and moved into a historic house centrally located to Child Protective Services, the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office, the Bastrop Police Department, and the Bastrop County Courthouse. In 2002, the Center officially expanded and changed its name to the Children’s Advocacy Center serving Bastrop, Lee, and Fayette Counties. In 2003, to better meet the growing needs of our service area, the Center purchased a second facility adjacent to the main house which is used solely for therapy services. In 2005, the Center became nationally accredited and its in-house SANE program became fully operational. In 2021, the Children's Advocacy Center moved to its current location in Central Bastrop, doubling its footprint and creating the opportunity to not only provide more services, but enhancing the services already provided. The new location includes a permanent, on-site medical suite, a therapeutic wing, and a dedicated family advocacy food and clothing pantry. The Center provides Forensic Interviews, Victim Advocacy, Therapeutic Services and facilitation with 24 Multidisciplinary (MDT) professionals from law enforcement, CPS, Medical, and District/County Attorney’s in the 3 county service area. We are the only agency that provides these services in Bastrop, Lee and Fayette counties, in a neutral, child-friendly setting. Services are provided free of charge and in English and Spanish.

🌟 Celebrating Our Incredible MDT Partners 🌟

This week, the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties gathered for our annual Staff and Board Lunch to honor our Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Partners who are so vital to our mission. Over a delicious meal, we celebrated another year of collaboration in bringing hope and healing to children and families affected by abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, trauma, and trafficking.

💡 Who are our MDT Partners?
Our MDT Partners include a highly specialized group of professionals: law enforcement, child protective services, medical providers, prosecutors, and therapeutic experts. Together, they work with the CAC to ensure a coordinated, compassionate response to crimes against children.

💡 Why is it important?
This collaborative approach ensures that every child receives the care, protection, and support they deserve while reducing trauma throughout the investigative process. As a neutral, independent non-profit organization, the Children's Advocacy Center plays a critical role in these efforts. In fact, Texas law mandates that law enforcement utilize the Children's Advocacy Centers in their jurisdiction for the intervention and investigation of crimes against children.

When you support the Children’s Advocacy Center, you’re also directly supporting the efforts of our local law enforcement and other MDT Partners as they work tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable members of our community. Here's to another year of teamwork, partnership, and brighter futures for the children in our community. 💛

We're sending heartfelt thanks to Wild Child Bastrop for opening their doors to the children we serve at the CAC! Part of recovery from abuse and building resilience is having fun and feeling like kids again. It's a critical component in the therapeutic process, and is a big part of our trauma-informed care. By letting the children we serve utilize their intentional play and growth space, Wild Child is giving the gift of childhood. We're so grateful for this support!

🎁 This Giving Tuesday, We’re Giving Back to the Kids Who Need It Most.

Wild Child is proud to announce our new partnership with the Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA

Starting today, any child in their care can enjoy Wild Child’s services completely FREE.

Kids in crisis carry more than most of us will ever understand. These incredible organizations support them through the hardest moments! But in the middle of the court dates, casework, transition and crises… it’s easy to forget that they’re still kids…

They need to play.
They need to laugh.
They need to feel like kids again.

Wild Child is here to be that space.

We are here to give back.
We are here for them.

If you know a child supported by CAC or CASA, please share this with their caregivers. Our doors and our hearts are open. ❤️

24 Wish Lists Left! Let's go!

We're in the final stretch of making the holidays merry and bright for the children we serve at the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties. There are still 24 children who've carefully written holiday wish lists for the items they're dreaming of waking up to on Christmas morning. You can make this possible.

An 8 year old girl wishes for some new clothes, a new pair of shoes, art supplies, a doll and some bracelets. A 10 year old boy would like a gaming headset and an Xbox controller. These small things mean everything to a kid who is going through a lot.

Child abuse can leave us feeling powerless, but giving a child who is recovering from abuse a dream-come-true Christmas helps to build precious memories, and happiness is healing. Please consider selecting a wish list this weekend, and sharing the bounty of the season with a child right here at home. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4BA8A92CA3F4CF8-60306312-holly #/
