We aspire to reduce trauma, seek justice, and foster healing and empowerment to child victims of abuse and their non-offending families and caregivers. Our vision is to facilitate the collaboration with agency professionals from Law Enforcement, Child Protection, Prosecution and Medical to assess and support abused children and their non-offending family members. The Children’s Advocacy Center sta
rted in Bastrop in a small rented house in 1992. A veteran Child Protective Services (CPS) worker volunteered her time and efforts to keep the Center operational. In 2000, the Center purchased, renovated, and moved into a historic house centrally located to Child Protective Services, the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office, the Bastrop Police Department, and the Bastrop County Courthouse. In 2002, the Center officially expanded and changed its name to the Children’s Advocacy Center serving Bastrop, Lee, and Fayette Counties. In 2003, to better meet the growing needs of our service area, the Center purchased a second facility adjacent to the main house which is used solely for therapy services. In 2005, the Center became nationally accredited and its in-house SANE program became fully operational. In 2021, the Children's Advocacy Center moved to its current location in Central Bastrop, doubling its footprint and creating the opportunity to not only provide more services, but enhancing the services already provided. The new location includes a permanent, on-site medical suite, a therapeutic wing, and a dedicated family advocacy food and clothing pantry. The Center provides Forensic Interviews, Victim Advocacy, Therapeutic Services and facilitation with 24 Multidisciplinary (MDT) professionals from law enforcement, CPS, Medical, and District/County Attorney’s in the 3 county service area. We are the only agency that provides these services in Bastrop, Lee and Fayette counties, in a neutral, child-friendly setting. Services are provided free of charge and in English and Spanish.
