Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties

Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties The Children’s Advocacy Center exists to provide a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to the problem of child abuse in our community.

We aspire to reduce trauma, seek justice, and foster healing and empowerment to child victims of abuse and their non-offending families and caregivers. Our vision is to facilitate the collaboration with agency professionals from Law Enforcement, Child Protection, Prosecution and Medical to assess and support abused children and their non-offending family members. The Children’s Advocacy Center started in Bastrop in a small rented house in 1992. A veteran Child Protective Services (CPS) worker volunteered her time and efforts to keep the Center operational. In 2000, the Center purchased, renovated, and moved into a historic house centrally located to Child Protective Services, the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office, the Bastrop Police Department, and the Bastrop County Courthouse. In 2002, the Center officially expanded and changed its name to the Children’s Advocacy Center serving Bastrop, Lee, and Fayette Counties. In 2003, to better meet the growing needs of our service area, the Center purchased a second facility adjacent to the main house which is used solely for therapy services. In 2005, the Center became nationally accredited and its in-house SANE program became fully operational. In 2021, the Children's Advocacy Center moved to its current location in Central Bastrop, doubling its footprint and creating the opportunity to not only provide more services, but enhancing the services already provided. The new location includes a permanent, on-site medical suite, a therapeutic wing, and a dedicated family advocacy food and clothing pantry. The Center provides Forensic Interviews, Victim Advocacy, Therapeutic Services and facilitation with 24 Multidisciplinary (MDT) professionals from law enforcement, CPS, Medical, and District/County Attorney’s in the 3 county service area. We are the only agency that provides these services in Bastrop, Lee and Fayette counties, in a neutral, child-friendly setting. Services are provided free of charge and in English and Spanish.

Happy New Year, from the Staff and Board of the CAC!

A new year is an opportunity to resolve to make a difference where it matters most. In our community, protecting children and helping them heal after abuse and trauma takes more than one role. It takes people willing to show up in the ways they can, with the time, talent, influence, and resources they have.

As we begin this year, we invite you to resolve to helping children by supporting the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties. There are many meaningful ways to get involved, from volunteering and hosting events, to serving as an ambassador, supporting our fundraising efforts, or becoming a recurring donor.

Every role matters. Every action strengthens our response to child abuse and helps build healthier, safer tomorrows for children right here at home.

As the year comes to a close, we ask you to pause and consider why you support the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties. Everyone has a reason. Maybe yours is one of these:

• You believe every child deserves to feel safe.
• You want to stand with our local law enforcement as they investigate crimes against children.
• You are an adult survivor of childhood abuse or trauma, and want today's children to have the help that may not have been there for you.
• You want to invest in the future health of our community.
• You want your generosity to make a real, immediate impact.

Whatever your reason, whatever your "why", supporting the CAC is a lifesaving choice.

This year, the CAC provided hundreds of forensic interviews, thousands of hours of therapeutic care, and one-on-one advocacy for children and families recovering from abuse, neglect and trauma. This work is specialized. It is intensive. It changes lives. And it only continues with community support.

We are down to the wire. A tax-deductible gift before the end of December 31st ensures the CAC is here tomorrow for the children who will need us next.

When a child experiences abuse, the first hours matter. The response matters. The support system around them matters.

This is why the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties is essential to the health and well-being of our community. We are the place where children can tell their story once, in a safe environment, with people trained to listen. We coordinate with law enforcement and CPS. We provide specialized forensic interviews, therapeutic care, medical support, and advocacy. We walk families through the unknown.

If the CAC did not exist, children would have no single location built entirely for their protection and healing. Families would be left to navigate trauma alone. Law enforcement would have fewer tools to pursue justice. Cases would fall through the cracks. The road to recovery would be harder, longer, and more isolating.

Instead, here in our community, children have a place where hope is restored and healing begins.

This work only exists because our community believes in it and supports it. Every donation directly sustains the services that protect children today and build safer futures for tomorrow.

If this mission matters to you, please consider an end-of-year gift. Your support keeps this lifeline strong. https://www.childrensadvocacycenter.org/donate

As we close out the year, we are asking our community to invest in a future where children here in our community can heal, grow, and thrive.

In 2025, the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties saw an average of 28 children each month for forensic interviews. That is nearly one child, every single day, whose world was changed by abuse or trauma. Each child walked through our doors with fear and uncertainty. Each child was met with safety, compassion, advocacy, and specialized care that helps begin the journey toward healing.

This work is lifesaving. It takes trained clinicians, advocates, medical care, resources for families in crisis, and a team who shows up for children every day. But it's worth it.

Your gift today plants seeds for tomorrow. Seeds of safety. Seeds of resilience. Seeds of futures that look brighter than the pain that brought them to our door.

If you believe in this work, now is the time to give your annual tax-deductible donation. Today’s support will become tomorrow's thriving child. https://www.childrensadvocacycenter.org/donate

As we head into the holidays, the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties is taking a brief pause to rest and reset.

After an extraordinary season of giving, these moments remind us that care matters not just for the children and families we serve, but for the people who show up every day to do this work. Before closing down for our Christmas break, our staff gathered to celebrate, laugh, and yes, cuddle a few hedgehogs, chinchillas, and chickens along the way.

It was a tender, joyful moment after a season that asked a lot of our community, and our team.

To our friends, partners, donors, and supporters - thank you for standing with us. We wish you peace, happiness, abundance, and love this holiday season.

We look forward to the work ahead in the new year.

Abuse is not rare, and it is not confined to headlines or extreme cases. It has been here, and it continues to be part of the lived reality for far too many children.

National data shows that at least one in seven children in the United States experiences abuse or neglect each year. One in ten will experience sexual abuse before the age of eighteen. These are not distant statistics. They point directly to children in our own communities - in classrooms, neighborhoods, and families we know.

And even these numbers do not tell the full story. Many children never disclose what has happened to them. Many cases are never reported. The trauma exists whether or not it ever enters an official system.

This is why the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties is necessary.

When abuse occurs, the CAC is where children are met with care instead of chaos. We work in close collaboration with law enforcement to investigate and intervene, and we provide trauma-informed therapeutic care to help children and families begin to heal. This work happens every day, often quietly, and always with intention.

We often share stories of progress, resilience, and recovery, because hope matters. But the reason this work exists at all comes back to something more basic. The need is persistent. The likelihood is real. The numbers make that clear.

Community support is what keeps this lifeline in place. Donations ensure that when a child needs safety, answers, and care, there is a trained, coordinated response ready to meet them.

This work is here because the need is here. And with your support, it will continue to be. https://www.childrensadvocacycenter.org/donate

It's the season of giving at the Children's Advocacy Center. Serving Bastrop, Lee and Fayette Counties

12/19/2025

In an ideal world, the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties would not need to exist.

Children would be safe. Families would be stable. No child would ever need to tell their story in a forensic interview room, or sit with a therapist to untangle harm that never should have happened.

But that is not the reality for many children in our community. Every day, the CAC serves children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and trauma. We are the only organization in our rural region working in close collaboration with law enforcement, child protective services, and prosecutors to intervene early, investigate crimes against children, and provide trauma-informed therapeutic care and family advocacy.

This work is urgent. It is complex. And it is only possible because of community support.

As we enter the final weeks of the year, we are asking those who believe in protecting children and supporting healing to consider an end-of-year tax-deductible gift. Your support helps ensure that when a child needs safety, care, and a path forward, the CAC is here, ready and resourced.

Thank you for standing with the children and families who need us most. Donate today: https://www.childrensadvocacycenter.org/donate

That’s a wrap! The final presents of the Holly Jolly Season of Giving are wrapped and ready for delivery, and our annual drive for holiday gifts and winter essentials is officially complete.

This year, the Children's Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee & Fayette Counties served 225 children. Together, we delivered hundreds of holiday meals for entire families, wrapped more than 1,125 gifts, and filled pantries to help families stay nourished through the long school break. It is a massive undertaking, and it was made possible by the collective generosity of a caring and compassionate community.

Moments of comfort, joy, and stability matter deeply for children who are healing from abuse and trauma. Happy childhood memories are not extras. They are an important part of the journey to healing. Waking up on Christmas morning to warmth, full bellies, and wishes that have been thoughtfully granted is something every child deserves.

We are profoundly grateful to every donor, volunteer, business, and partner who made this season possible. Your kindness showed up in wrapped gifts, stocked shelves, warm coats, volunteer events, and the reassurance that these children and families are not alone.

While the Holly Jolly season has come to a close, the work of the Children’s Advocacy Center continues every day of the year. Providing advocacy, coordinated services, and trauma informed therapeutic care for children and families takes sustained community support.

As you consider your end of year charitable giving, we invite you to support the Children’s Advocacy Center. Your donation helps ensure that care, stability, and hope are available not just during the holidays, but all year long. Learn more here: https://www.childrensadvocacycenter.org/donate

Thank you for making this season one of care, dignity, and generosity.
