Reality Check GOW

Reality Check GOW Reality Check GOW is funded by the New York Tobacco Control Program. Our group specifically covers Genesee, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties.

We engage community leaders and other youth to help change policies and norms about tobacco and tobacco use. Reality Check:
a youth-based group fighting against the tobacco industry, informing many of the dangers of smoking and the lies posted by the companies. Trying to achieve smoke free communities, and reduce secondhand smoke exposure (with smoke free housing) are just a few of our goals.

Today is No Menthol Sunday! This is a national observance day led by NAATPN, Inc. to engage faith leaders and their communities in a discussion about how to improve health outcomes for African Americans.
Smoking kills 47,000 African Americans per year.
Most teens and African Americans who smoke choose menthols because the minty flavor helps make it easier to start smoking -- it also makes it harder to quit smoking. Now, in the midst of an international pandemic, it’s more important now than ever to urge our people to quit. Smoking and va**ng increase your risk for more severe COVID-19 and even death.
We are excited to see how you used your own creativity to engage your faith community in this campaign!
