Big step, leading towards a big dream today ✨

Today we had our first official meeting to begin the process of evolving our BRAVE + STRONG campaign into an actual nonprofit.

What started as a small idea has grown into something so much bigger and we’re excited to keep building it for our clients and community at large.

This work is being led by our founding board, Kelly, Marci, and Shannon, each of us bringing a shared passion for expanding access to mental health support.

There’s still a process ahead (applications, approvals, all of it), but today felt like a huge step forward as we began shaping the vision, mission, and goals for what’s next.

As we head into the 6th year of our BRAVE + STRONG campaign we’re excited to share all of the details soon!

…And we cannot wait to share our new shirt design and partners with you.

Registered voters of Dundee Township: Please come to the Annual Town Meeting next Tuesday at 7pm on April 14th, at the Rakow Center Park District building located at 665 Barrington Ave., Carpentersville.

TWO agenda items are up for advisory vote;

1) A motion urging Supervisor Shah to appoint Dr. Michele Wright, Dawn Arimura and Amber Cotter, three local, mental health professionals, to the Mental Health Board (MHB) so
grants can be applied to Ecker Center for Behavioral Health , Association for Individual Development , Family Service Association of Greater Elgin Area, Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley, Mathers Clinic, The Center for Counseling Services, Brightpoint Child & Family Center in Carpentersville, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, Stronger Therapeutic Counseling Services, Inc.. Three of the Mental Health Board seats have been vacant since last December. The board is unable to award grants, hire an administrator and function due to the lack of a quorum.

2) A motion to support House Bill 4616 changing the nomination rules for Mental Health Boards. Currently only the Supervisor (or presiding official) can nominate candidates. HB 4616 will allow Township Board (or governing board) members to nominate candidates for the Mental Health Board which are then voted on by the governing board.

The MHB is responsible for distributing hundreds of thousands of tax dollars to local mental health agencies to provide services for our residents. Mental Health Board Members should have professional backgrounds and experience to effectively evaluate grant applications and understand the impact of programs implemented.

Anything you can do to get people to come and support these two motions will help our residents.

Some days hold both heartbreak and hope… and today was one of them.

We stood alongside our community at Hands Around the Courthouse to honor Child Abuse Prevention Month and support the work of CASA of Kane County.

Chief Judge Robert Villa shared something that stayed with us:
Two things can be true at the same time.

The reality of child abuse is devastating.
And…
the impact of advocacy, support, and community care is powerful and real.

In 2025 alone, CASA showed up in:
• 1,500 court hearings
• 12,000 hours of advocacy
• 600 children in foster care supported
• 200 children who found reunification and hope

In the past 90 days of 2026, a child enters the foster care system every 36 hours.

At the end of this reel, you’ll hear a simple but important reminder from Tara Winters the Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse America:
“Every child is born full of promise.”

We believe that.
And we’re grateful for the people who help protect it 🤍

We’ve been working on something behind the scenes…

Actually… a few things.

At Stronger, we’re always thinking about how to meet people in real life, not just in the therapy room.

And lately, one theme keeps showing up:

People are craving connection.
They just don’t always know where to find it.

So we created a few new experiences designed to support different seasons of life:

🌿 Walk + Talk group: A therapist led walking experience for adults who need a reset, movement, and meaningful conversation

✨ Midweek Reset, Focus + Follow Through (without the overwhelm): A weekly group for those feeling overwhelmed to reset, organize and start

🤍 Confident & Connected, a unique special event offered at for middle, high school, and college students to feel more confident and connected in their next steps

Each of these is intentionally designed to feel:
• supportive, not overwhelming
• real, not clinical
• and something people actually want to be part of
