New Directions had a great turnout at the Special Olympics Bowling on Tuesday. This is one of our group's favorite activities, and we appreciate Special Olympics Arkansas and Hollywood Bowl in Batesville for providing the opportunity.
New Directions is an Adult Day Developmental Treatment program operated by Network of Community Options, Inc., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, for ages 18 and up.
The curriculum varies widely, with discussions on everyday living skills, such as budgeting, grocery shopping, cooking healthy meals, as well as listening and reasoning skills, written language, math calculation and concepts, socialization, health and safety, and current events.
There are computers at the center for clients to research health topics, assist with job searches and fill out job applications, and more. There is daily “free time” during which clients may choose to play board/card games, read, or visit with one another.
Free tours of the site are available by calling Nena Branscum, Program Coordinator, at 870-569-1433 or emailing nena.branscum@nco-inc.com. For more information about NCO and the services it offers, contact NCO Executive Director Lisa Pinkston at 870-612-5900 or lisa.pinkston@nco-inc.com.
