Sophie radiates coolness—and she doesn’t let cerebral palsy slow her down one bit 💪💚 As an identical twin, she faced birth complications that only affected her, and when therapy didn’t bring the same progress as her sister’s, her family searched for answers. Cincinnati Children’s stepped in, and by age two, Sophie received her diagnosis. Since then, she’s thrived as our patient, gaining strength and confidence every step of the way!

She crushes math, loves aquatic therapy, and cheers on her favorite sports teams. Her amazing friends even built her a custom ramp so she can roll right up to her desk at school 🙌

This and , we celebrate Sophie—and every kid who shows the world what strength really looks like.

Around 70% of young athletes drop out of competitive sports by age 13. Even if kids don’t enjoy sports, it is important to find an alternative exercise because starting and continuing healthy habits in childhood helps prevent chronic diseases later in life. Christopher Kist, one of our exercise physiologists, explains how to find non-sports activities kids like in today's post, through the link in the comments.

🎗️ September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and as part of that, Hyundai Hope On Wheels presented $500,000 in grants to support our work in pediatric cancer research and care. The grants were awarded during a Handprint Ceremony, where children impacted by cancer placed their painted handprints on a Hyundai vehicle — a beautiful and emotional symbol of their strength, courage, and hope for a cure.

When Alisson’s sister was in the hospital, movie nights and cooking together came to a halt—it was tough. But at our Sibling Symposium, Alisson found connection, comfort, and kids who truly understood. 💙

This year’s Sibling Symposium is on October 11, and we’re inviting siblings of individuals with complex health needs and developmental disabilities to come together for a day of community, conversation, and connection. Expect breakout sessions, a sibling panel, and plenty of time to mingle and make new friends.

✨ Let’s build something meaningful—together. RSVP now at the link in the comments!

At her 20-week ultrasound, doctors diagnosed Vivian with D-TGA—a congenital heart defect where the heart’s two main arteries are switched, reducing oxygen-rich blood to her body. She entered the world in our Cincinnati Children's Fetal Care Center, underwent a balloon septostomy to stabilize her heart, and one week later, had a successful arterial switch operation. Today, Vivian is thriving! She adores her big sister’s toys, loves music, and follows Mommy everywhere. This and , we celebrate incredible kids like Vivian! ❤️ Learn more about our Fetal Care Center and Cincinnati Children's Heart Institute in the comments!
