If you've been caught up in the fast-growing sport of pickleball, show off your skills while helping send local Veterans to compete in the 2026 VA Golden Age Games this summer.

In A Pickle, an indoor pickleball club in Canandaigua, will host a fund-raising tournament May 9 to give Vets an opportunity to take part in the annual games this summer in Tampa, Florida.

Open to Veterans age 55 and up, the Golden Age Games offer 21 medaled events, promoting fitness, healthy aging, and the therapeutic value of sports for seniors.

04/24/2026

VA Golden Age Games began in 1985, long before “senior athletics” was a mainstream idea. VA recognized that aging Veterans needed more than medical care. They also needed motivation, goals, and a sense of connection. So, the Games were born with just a few hundred competitors.
Today, they’ve grown into a major event where thousands of athletes and supporters from across the country come to take part. It is a living tribute to the fact that service continues after age 50 and that strength can last a lifetime.

The Veterans Health Administration is marking 80 years of supporting Veterans of all ages and abilities just like the Golden Age Game athletes. Learn more.

Finger Lakes Veteran Connection Cafe at the Rochester Calkins VA Clinic continues to build connections with -- and among -- Veterans.

The latest cafe, which is held the third Friday of every month in Rochester, put Veterans in touch with organizations and services that can benefit them and make life a little better.

Our thanks to the many groups that donated and sponsored food, supplies and other resources for the cafe include DAV, NY State Elks, Pretty Cool Cookies, EquiCenter, Compeer, CaptionCall, and su***de prevention.

Don't forget . . . another Connection Cafe is coming to the Canandaigua VA Medical Center May 7.
