Congrats, K***n!
We're proud of you!
Congratulations to Baton Rouge Fire Department’s K***n Blackwell on graduating from the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Academy today.
Hosted by the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association and modeled after the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy, this two-year program includes numerous classes, a written paper, and a capstone project. Through this work, K***n earned the designation of Louisiana Certified Fire Executive.
He is also the first BRFD member to graduate from the program.
The academy covers topics such as leadership, budgeting, technology and innovation, state and local laws, and many other areas that prepare fire service leaders for the responsibilities of serving as Fire Chief.
Programs like this help strengthen the fire service's future, but a strong fire service also depends on strong community partnerships. One way residents can help firefighters before an emergency happens is by signing up for Community Connect. This free, secure program allows residents and business owners to share important information about their property, family, pets, medical needs, and other details that could help firefighters respond more effectively during an emergency.
