Labor Day reminds us just how hard we work day in and day out. But here’s the truth — we should play even harder. And sometimes, play doesn’t look like a big event or outing… sometimes play is giving yourself permission to rest. 🧘🏾‍♀️✨

That’s why rest is such an important part of the practice. Infrared yoga is one of the best ways to let your body recharge — reducing stress, easing tension, and helping you bounce back stronger.

So whether you’re celebrating with friends, sneaking in a nap, or rolling out your mat, make sure you give yourself space to rest. Because rest isn’t lazy, it’s powerful.

Let’s practice the 4-7-8 breath together.

Inhale through your nose for a count of 4… hold the breath gently for 7… and then exhale slowly through your mouth for 8.

This is a powerful technique we use in yoga to calm the nervous system, ease stress, and bring the body into balance. By slowing the breath, you activate your parasympathetic system—the part that tells your body it’s safe to relax.

The benefits? It reduces anxiety, lowers heart rate, helps you focus, and can even prepare you for deeper rest or sleep. Whether you’re on the mat or in a chair, it gives your mind and body a reset.

Let’s try one round together: inhale… hold… exhale…

You can repeat this three to four times anytime you need to center yourself. Simple, effective, and it travels with you everywhere.

We have some exciting news!

Meet Patrick Ford — Our new Instructor at Move Your Body Yoga.

We’re proud to officially welcome Patrick Ford to the instructor team at Move Your Body Yoga!

Patrick has been part of our community since day one. He was the first person to register when we opened, and from the moment he saw our sign go up, he told us that he just “knew he had to become a part of this community.” Patrick has shown up with consistency, kindness, and heart.

With over 20 years of yoga practice and a decade of experience teaching both yoga and martial arts (Tang Soo Do) at the Chi Institute and as a volunteer instructor at LSU’s International Cultural Center, Patrick brings depth, warmth, and grounded energy to every class. He’s also CPR/First Aid/AED certified.

Outside the studio, Patrick is a nature and science enthusiast—you’ll find him hiking, gardening, photographing tiny bugs and flowers, or stargazing. He’s a rock collector, a self-professed space nerd, and always full of fun facts.

Patrick believes yoga is for every body—and that showing up just as you are is more than enough. We’re honored to have him on our teaching team and can’t wait for you to experience his classes.

Move Your Body Yoga is officially 2 years strong. ✌🏾🔥

What began as a vision has grown into a movement—powered by the commitment, energy, and heart of this community. Every class, every breath, every shared moment has built something bigger than yoga: a place of strength, connection, and transformation.

This two-year milestone belongs to everyone who has shown up, supported, and believed in the mission. The gratitude runs deep—and the best is still ahead.

Infrared Yoga Nidra Recap 🔥🫶🏾❤️

Tonight, Move Your Body Yoga hosted the second session of its Summer 2025 Infrared Yoga Nidra Pop-Up Series. The theme was simple but powerful: Just Rest.

In the warmth of the infrared-heated studio, our community was welcomed into stillness and guided through intentional breathwork—ten deep, steady breaths to anchor the body and calm the mind. From there, the practice moved into Yoga Nidra, the state between wakefulness and sleep, where deep restoration takes place.

Throughout the 45-minute session, our community was encouraged to envision what rest looks like in their own lives—whether a cozy blanket, the gentle support of water, or a quiet open space. Racing thoughts were acknowledged and then released, like clouds drifting across a wide sky, making room for peace and calm to take root.

The healing warmth of infrared heat deepened the practice, softening tension in the body and amplifying the sense of release. The room grew quiet as everyone surrendered fully to stillness.

The evening closed with a gentle reawakening—stretching, breath, and gratitude—reminding our community to carry the gift of rest into the night and beyond the mat.

Expect near-infrared glow, a lightly cooled room with our infrared heated studio providing soft warmth, cozy eye masks, and the kind of stillness that stays with you.

✨ Limited spots. No noise. Just you, your mat, and deep rest. You can bring your own pillow and even a throw blanket. Yoga mats and blocks provided.
