Move Your Body Yoga has become what it is because of the humans who show up, breathe together, move together, and make room for one another. That’s what made this year special, and that’s what makes the holidays feel warm here.

Midweek Mobility Tip — Chair Yoga Edition

It’s Wednesday… the perfect day to check in with your body and give it a little love.

If you sit a lot, it’s easy to think “I need to get back in the gym,” or “I’ll start when I’m flexible again.” But here’s the truth: you don’t need to be flexible to do yoga. You just need the willingness to move.

Your chair is more than a seat — it’s your launchpad for strength, grace, and movement. A simple, supportive starting point that meets you exactly where you are.

This week’s mobility tip:

Start with the chair you already have.
Plant your feet.
Sit tall.
Roll your shoulders.
Reach your arms wide.
Take one intentional breath.
Then another.
That tiny moment of movement is how habits begin.

Chair yoga is accessible. It’s safe. It’s empowering. And it’s perfect for anyone easing back into daily movement.

Today, our community moved in a different way — together, in service.

Our MYBY family spent the morning at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, and those four hours were full. Full of teamwork, full of learning, full of purpose… and full of joy.

We sorted donations, checked dates, organized bins, pushed carts, lifted, stacked, and tag-teamed the work from start to finish. And while we definitely broke a sweat, what stood out most was seeing just how much this Food Bank does for Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes. Their operation is incredible — efficient, organized, compassionate, and deeply committed to reducing food insecurity in our city.

We came in as volunteers, but we left with a deeper understanding of how many families rely on this support and how important it is for all of us to stay connected to the community we call home.

At Move Your Body Yoga, movement is our mission — on the mat, in our bodies, and out in the world.

Today was movement in action.
Movement with heart.
Movement that lifts others.
Movement that reminds us what community really looks like.

So grateful for every member who showed up with love, energy, and willingness to serve. We worked hard… and we had fun doing it. This is what community looks like. This is what wellness looks like. This is what we look like — moving with intention, together.

Welcome to our member spotlight.

Meet Jamaal.

Jamaal is a dedicated member of our studio who focuses on improving in every pose attempted each class. He credits his passion for yoga to his active lifestyle, the warm, inviting community at Move Your Body Yoga, his mother, a former yoga instructor, and Kim’s relentless creativity on the mat week in and week out. He enjoys board games, outdoor settings, and new challenges to push him to new levels. Jamaal believes in treating everyone with kindness, fairness, and compassion for all. He stated that finding unique areas to complete a flow, such as on the beach or on a hiking trail in the woods, unlocks new creativity and unlocks a better version of himself each time. He enjoyed this flow on the beach especially because it is out of his ordinary beach routine and believes it resets him to achieve the destined version of himself.

Jamaal has a quote that he loves and it is, “the difference between who you are and who you want to become begins with just starting.”

We are proud to have Jamaal in community practicing with us. He is a true light and his positive energy radiates throughout the studio.

A beautiful moment for Southern University Athletics.

I had the honor of meeting Marshall Faulk—NFL Hall of Famer, Super Bowl champion, 2000 NFL MVP, and New Orleans native—now named the new head coach of Southern University Jaguar Football.

As a corporate sponsor and wellness partner for Southern University Athletics, Move Your Body Yoga has been privileged to support the athletic family—women’s soccer, basketball, bowling, baseball, volleyball, and football—through yoga, breathwork, mobility, meditation, and mindful strength. We teach movement for performance, but also movement for life.

Seeing this new chapter unfold, with a leader who embodies excellence and resilience, reminds me why this work matters. Wellness isn’t just a practice—it’s a foundation. It shapes how athletes show up, how they recover, how they lead, and how they grow beyond the field.
