Your Lousiana Delegation has been in Anaheim at the AAFP Congress of Delegates. Our membership was represented by delegates, Jim Taylor, MD, FAAFP and Brian Harrell, MD, FAAFP. Working with our alternate delegates, Richard Bridges, MD, FAAFP and Lisa Casey, MD. Our delegates attended business sessions, debated resolutions, attended candidate forums and helped elect the new AAFP leadership.

LSU Health New Orleans FMIG hosted its inaugural Journal Club meeting on Thursday, September 25 at NOLA Brewing and Pizza Co. Students, faculty, residents and community physicians enjoyed a relaxed evening of networking followed by a review of current journal articles.

Three student members reviewed the current research articles with the group and then discussed the strengths and weaknesses of each article:
• Tyson Cowart, L 2 – Diagnosis and Evaluation of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
• Tiera Gulum, L 2- Clinically Important Benefits and Harms of Monoclonal Antibodies Targeting Amyloid for the Treatment of Alzheimer Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis – PMC
• Ainsley Morgan, L 2 - The Effectiveness of Prophylactic Oral and/or Vaginal Probiotic Supplementation in the Prevention of Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections
