The LAFP Foundation hosted the South Louisiana Residency Fair & Student Workshop in New Orleans on Wednesday. The workshops were planned to give students the opportunity to learn more about what procedures family physicians can perform and to have more interaction with our faculty and residents all while learning important skills. Faculty and residents from the programs hosted suturing & ultrasound workshops. The Residency Fair was a success with tables from East Jefferson, Lake Charles, Bogalusa, Baton Rouge General, Kenner, St. Tammany, Lafayette, FMOLHS- Monroe and Ochsner!

The LAFP Foundation would like to say a big “THANK YOU” to our sponsor,
Ochsner for providing lunch for all attending. The LAFP is planning a full calendar of student and resident events for 2026. Be sure to check your “Weekly Family Medicine Update” for all the details.

Is it ok to drink alcohol while breastfeeding?
Not drinking alcohol is the safest option when breastfeeding. Up to one standard drink in a day is not known to be harmful, especially if you wait at least two hours after a single drink before nursing.
