May Is Skin Cancer Awareness Month!
With over 5 million cases diagnosed in the United States each year, skin cancer is America’s most common cancer. Fortunately, skin cancer is also one of the most preventable cancers.
By understanding the facts about the dangers of unprotected sun exposure and checking your skin routinely at home and annually in the office, we can save lives.
To protect yourself from the sun’s harmful UV rays, use a combination of methods:
- apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+)
- wear protective clothing
- wear wide-brimmed hats
- wear sunglasses
- seek shade during peak hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- reapply sunscreen every two hours or more often if swimming or sweating
Help us spread awareness about being sun safe.
