For our January , we’d like you to meet Josie and Howard!

They have lived at Barclay House for four months. Josie is originally from Texas but lived in Louisiana for most of her life, and they met while working for FEMA. Howard is from Pennsylvania and served in the Air Force for 24 years as a Master Sergeant. He has also visited every U.S. state capital.

One thing they love about living at Barclay House is attending craft classes together.

If they could give one piece of advice, it would be: "Be honest, and be careful what you say to other people."

Fun fact: They have been married for 30-some-odd years! Their anniversary is coming up on Valentine’s Day!

Josie and Howard have brought so much life to Barclay House, and we are so lucky to have them!

For some our team members, it all began with visiting a parent and returning each week to bring music and connection through the ukulele club. For others, it started with an unexpected job interview that instantly felt familiar and welcoming. What they all describe is the same feeling of comfort, purpose, and belonging. For our January , we would like to recognize Lauren! She has been with Barclay House for over three years and has become a vital part of our community.

Lauren is one of our activities team members here at Barclay House. She is an extremely hard worker and always goes above and beyond for our residents. She plays an important role in creating engaging and meaningful activities for residents. Her genuine care and positive attitude help make it feel like home.

Her favorite part about working at Barclay House is building relationships with residents and bringing joy into their daily lives, which is what makes her such a valued part of the team.

Fun fact: She loves camping, wake surfing, and spending time on the water. She is also a huge Disney fanatic and loves anything and everything Disney World.
