The Pit Krewe of Louisiana is an advocacy group composed of pit bull families that encourage responsible ownership and strive for the fair treatment of pit bulls/pit bull families everywhere. We are families that have known, respected and appreciated the love of a pit-bull (or quite a few!) While we are not a rescue, we are an advocacy group that educates families and the public about the wonderful breed we call our family. We know the history of our favorite breed and we also know the discrimination that our dogs face on a daily basis. We know that it takes time to help people understand that Pit Bulls are not inherently dangerous, but that it takes a dangerous person to create such a situation. We take pride in our four-legged family members and do our part to respectfully protect their image. We face much opposition, but we handle it with poise. We pride ourselves on education and our ability to withhold judgment from people that do not share our views- the very thing that has kept Pit Bulls down for so many years. The Pit Krewe spans many states aside from Louisiana. We are not contained to the United States, even. We are thankful for every single member. The Pit Krewe is what our members make us. We are nurses, firefighters, sheriff deputies, paralegals and attorneys. We are salesmen and women, we are students, mothers, fathers and teachers. We are doctors, truck drivers, veterinary technicians and veterinarians. We are criminologists, business owners and editors. We are automotive technicians, soldiers and EMTs. We are people from all walks of life. We share one big thing in common. We all know the love of a Pit Bull- the loyalty, the devotion and the joy that they bring. To know a Pit Bull is to love them. We hope that you take the time to get to know a pittie if you’ve yet to make friends with one. It just might change your mind.
