In the spirit of transparency, in other words being really real… I have NOT been living life. Life has been living me 😵‍💫. Holding on by merely a thread! I had to stop & ask myself, what balls can I drop, & which ones did I have to keep in rotation. Priorities matter. Self care is integral, because life has a way of sitting you down-voluntarily or involuntarily! All that to say, I understand the importance of taking of care of the physical, mental & emotional aspects of myself, and still fall short. For those who may not feel it’s important, I’ll continue to use this platform to educate & advocate for it-consistently.

As we kick off this self-care journey today, we start simple. Start with what we have already been blessed with, it’s free & today it’s beautiful—the beautiful outdoors. Before we get bogged down with the hustle & bustle of this week, get outside and get connected with nature. It could be as simple as taking a walk or just sitting outside & basking in the sun. The purpose is to be mindful and slow down.
Engage all your senses.
👂🏾 Tune into the sound. Notice sounds near & far. Get into the silence.
👃 what can you smell? What aromas stick out to you?
🤚🏾spread your fingers & toes out. Wiggle them. Place your hand on heart, get centered with your own heart beat.
Deep breath in, allow your belly to rise. Hold it. Exhale slowly to the count of 5.

Today I am grateful for the sun. The illumination it provides. The warmth it gives. I am open and receptive to its healing energies. I am open to new experiences. I am worthy of self care.

Bentley Wellness Associates provides services beyond therapy. One of our favorite things to do is interactive presentations! COVID has changed the delivery, but the energy & passion for mental wellness is still there! Whether we’re speaking to students on test anxiety, doing a training for educators on working with students with disabilities or even providing staff supervision for Counseling agencies, BWA loves to provide education on relevant content to keep people informed. If you’re an administrator looking to provide relevant PD to your staff or students, let us know. 🤩🤩 🍩

Being in a fulfilling relationship is heavily impacted by how you manage your expectations aaaaand how you communicate your expectations to your partner. Are your expectations of love based in reality? Did you think once you got in a relationship, life would be all sunshine & roses? One common myth we hear is “Love is all you need for a great relationship”... True or no? From what I’ve experienced, love can be the foundation but you can also benefit from effective communication, flexibility, emotional connectedness, loyalty and commitment ...aka WORK 🤣
