Today…there are so many words, so many emotions. I can’t even begin to put them all down to capture our experience with this team. If I had to pick one word to describe this team of therapists, it’s empowering.
Why empowering? They empower the family by assuring them they are needed and an important part of the journey, from parents to siblings. Therapy doesn’t happen just within the walls but with us, and we have to be trained to know what to do. To be given the knowledge these 3 weeks and hands on experiences we have all received, we are coming back better equipped on how to help Caffrey fight harder.
They packed us up today with a very special gait trainer, communication device, brace for his wrist to borrow while his gets ordered and delivered. (If you know insurance and equipment, it’s not a quick process). They let us borrow the tools Caffrey needed to keep working hard while we wait for his own items to arrive.
Now this equipment isn’t just any equipment, it’s special equipment and we are so very thankful for a family of a very special boy named Avery, who donated this equipment to Triform Therapy for kids like Caffrey to get to use during the waiting process. Their little Avery passed away this March at the young age of 9 this year. He was a huge part of the heartbeat within Triform Therapy. I have gotten to hear so many stories of Avery during our time there, his life is living on each day, through each child his equipment gets to help. Words cannot begin to explain the privilege of getting to use Avery’s items.
We have met a few parents down here, who are working just as hard with their babies as we are with our Caffrey. As I walked through the hall one day, I felt a little pat on the back from a fellow mom. No words were exchanged in that moment, but that pat hit deep within this momma’s heart. It was the unspoken between mom’s of special need kiddos, cheering for each other.
We are blessed to be set up for monthly follow ups and already on schedule to come back in a few months for another round of intensives. The next rounds will be tougher, but he has this and God has us all.
We love the team at Triform Therapy and I’m forever grateful for MB Therapy, Inc. opening this door for us.
