‼️ 🔔‼️🔔 Call to Action in Virginia:

‼️ 🔔‼️🔔 Call to Action: We had a very productive meeting this morning with the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture (lead Admin rep for SB 903) and the Industrial H**p Program Manager for VDACS.

As in many meetings and other correspondence over the last year and a half we reiterated the VHC’s position about separating intoxicating cannabinoids from non intoxicating for regulations, also regulating h**p derived intoxicating products 21 and over and treat them like to***co or alcohol allowing a free market to retail as long as localities approve with simple-straight forward regulations, and to completely remove the bittering agent requirement for any h**p product.

In addition we asked for the 2mg thc level in the bill to be stricken and if one is to be determined it must match up with the current full spectrum products on the market today and also abide by federal h**p law. We recommend per serving and not per package restrictions. The Administration said that the Governor would be getting into this issue next week and it is up to him alone what he will decide on SB 903. If he does not amend it there will be a huge backlash and an enforcement nightmare for the Commonwealrh of Virginia, in addition to job and economic losses across the board.

The Governor will likely not veto this bill but there is a possibility of getting him to greatly amend it as our education, pressure and news coverage over the weeks has been heard and felt. We highlighted the recent economic report and we are giving all our efforts to spotlight the main issues here to the Governor. If this bill passes as is we expect a whole lot of folks in the VHC will push back on this over the top ridiculous legislation.

Please reach out to the Secretary of Ag Matt Lohr, Deputy Secretary of Ag Parker Slaybaugh and Governor Youngkin and ask them to Veto or greatly amend SB 903. Thank you!

Virginia Senator Emmitt Hanger’s Bill - SB 591 started out with just one line… about prohibiting retail marijuna gummy shapes to be animals or cars… Then on Feb 10th he added an immense amount of language that would change the definition of h**p in Virginia to have 0.25mg limits of THC per serving - going directly against federal h**p law from the 2018 Farm Bill. This would ban even our lowest strength CBD Oils and CBD topicals! 🤯🤦‍♂️

LANDMARK VICTORY! 🏆 Today, Cypress H**p became the first company in history with legal THC products in Louisiana! 👏 (...and also the first with legal CBD gummies!) This moment is hard to put into words, but I'll explain briefly below!

As many of y'all know, we've been deeply involved with Louisiana's h**p laws and regulations, since Louisiana's first h**p bill was being drafted! 👩‍⚖️ Louisiana is truly ahead of the curve by choosing to regulate this new area of the cannabis industry (h**p derived THC products), instead of prohibiting or banning it. 👍
