Athletes for Hope. Athletes for Us.

This week, members from LSU Swimming & Diving, LSU Track & Field, LSU Men's Golf, LSU Women's Golf, Southern Jaguars Athletics (Golf) & Southern University Cross-Country/Track & Field took time from their busy schedules to visit patients at FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. The Tigers and Jags played games with our patients, shared smiles and laughs, and spread joy throughout our units.

Welcome Dr. Bhakti Samant to FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health!

With over 15 years of experience in global healthcare and clinical research, Dr. Samant brings expertise in childhood obesity prevention, nutrition, mental health and patient-centered care. She completed her pediatric residency at our Children’s Hospital, serving as Chief Resident for the Primary Care Track. Fluent in English, Marathi, and Hindi, Dr. Samant is passionate about partnering with families to support healthy lifestyles for children of all ages.

Our pediatric residents returned to the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences at LSU kitchen for their second hands-on culinary medicine class. The elective, a collaboration with The American College of Culinary Medicine and funded by the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society, blends healthcare and cooking to help our residents teach families how everyday ingredients can become healthful meals.
