Louisiana Emergency Response Network

Louisiana Emergency Response Network LERN assists hospitals and emergency response teams by coordinating delivery of patients to the most

The Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN) is an agency of state government created by the Louisiana Legislature in 2004 charged with the responsibility of developing and maintaining a statewide system of care coordination for patients suddenly stricken by serious traumatic injury or time-sensitive illness (such as heart attack and stroke). It is a system also designated to serve as a vital healthcare resource in the face of larger scale emergencies and natural disasters. Getting to the right place at the right time to receive the right care is a matter of life or death for these patients.

🚌 National School Bus Safety Week Tip 🚌 School buses carry our most precious passengers and it is every drivers responsibility to help keep our roads safe. Whether you’re on your morning commute or heading home after work, remember:

🚨 Flashing red lights and an extended stop arm mean STOP.
πŸš— Drivers in both directions must stop on two-lane roads.
🚦 Stay alert in school zones and neighborhoods, kids may be crossing unexpectedly.

🚌 It’s National School Bus Safety Week! (October 20–24) 🚌 Every day, thousands of students across Louisiana ride the bus to and from school and their safety depends on all of us. Whether you’re a driver, parent, or student, we each play a role in keeping our roads and school zones safe.

➑️ Drivers: Stop for flashing red lights and extended stop arms, it’s the law.
➑️ Students: Stay alert around buses and always wait for your driver’s signal before crossing.
➑️ Parents: Talk with your children about safe behaviors at the bus stop.

πŸ’‘Spotlight: Rural Trauma Team Development CourseπŸ’‘ We are grateful for the collaborative team of Jamin Rankin, Dr. Joann Alley, Jamie Florentine, and Deborah Spann who recently conducted a great Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC) at Richardson Medical Center. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

A special THANK YOU to the Living Well Foundation for helping provide the equipment that made this training possible. πŸ™Œ πŸ™Œ πŸ™Œ

Developed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT), RTTDC improves the quality of care in rural communities by developing a timely, organized, and systemic response to the care of the trauma patient. The course emphasizes a team approach to the initial assessment, resuscitation and transfer of the trauma patient in a systemized, concise manner.

πŸ’™ October is Safe Sleep Month πŸ’™ Practicing safe sleep is one of the most simple and effective ways to keep babies healthy and safe. Consider the following ways to create a safer, more restful space for your baby:

βœ… Always place your baby on their back to sleep
βœ… Use a firm, flat sleep surface free of soft bedding and toys
βœ… Keep baby’s sleep area in your room, but not in your bed
βœ… Dress baby in a wearable blanket or onsie
