Did you know that when it's hot and humid outside, your body regulates its temperature by sweating and increasing blood flow to the skin? Humidity makes it harder for your body to regulate its temperature. When you are unable to maintain a normal body temperature, heat illness can occur. Heat-related illness can affect anyone, but some people are at a greater risk, such as infants and young children, pregnant people, older adults, people with chronic health conditions, and people who exercise or work outside. Make sure to take the necessary precautions to stay healthy if you are outside.

Serving our community!

St. Gabriel Health Clinic, Inc. (SGHC) was formed out of the concept to provide comprehensive primary care services to the underserved population in Iberville Parish. It was established in 1993, received its IRS nonprofit designation in 1994 and was designated a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 2002.

Throughout our 25 year history, the health center has evolved and grown to meet the needs of our patients and improve the health status of the community. We are proud of our long history of service. SGHC’s mission is to provide primary preventive health services to the medically insured, underinsured and underserved population of Iberville and surrounding areas regardless of the ability to pay and to increase the span of a healthy life, reduce health disparities and achieve access to comprehensive health services.

In fulfilling our mission, SGHC’s services target uninsured, underserved residents living below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. SGHC works in tandem with its community partners and has collaborative partnerships with the Mayor’s offices of the city of St. Gabriel and Baton Rouge, the Louisiana Primary Care Association, the Gardere Initiative, The Louisiana Department of Health, Woman’s Hospital, and other FQHCs and community-based organizations.

Because of the commitment to quality and hard work of its staff and board of directors, SGHC has earned the Health Resources and Services Administration Health Center Quality Leader award for 2017 and 2018. SGHC is a proud member of the National Association of Community Health Centers, Louisiana Primary Care Association and the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved. SGHC is recognized by the AHA as a Target BP Program Participant.
